Are you guys using the pre-season as your playoffs again this year?
- Flyfreaky

It's the smart thing to do.

A lot of teams run out of gas in the playoffs - hard to keep up that intensity after an 82-game grind.

All the Leafs have had a nice summer vacation, and arrive fresh for the pre-season.

Best to get your most important games out of the way early.

Duh.

On the flip side, if there's another lost season, there may be opportunities to pick up star players from Florida, Phoenix, and Tampa Bay in a dispersal draft in 2013.

A lost season is good for those franchises because they won't lose any money.

And Dumba.
- Allstarzz

If Dumba reaches his potential, having him beside Suter would be ideal. Dumba takes the chances, Suter cleans up mistakes and mentors him as well.. good times to be a Wild fan now.

I think even "unlimited" plans have some throttling. I believe wind mobile works that way anyway?
- GoneFullRetard

I have note heard/experienced any throttling, but without the VPN they do compress images, so some image intensive web sites and apps will have fuzzy pics (kinds sucks).

You can buy a SIM card for $5 from almost any Petro Canada location, or online. Activate it with $15 prepaid time and then sign up for the mobile web browsing add-on, which will take a $10 chunk out of your $15 prepaid time. Throw the card in our iPhone and try it out. If you don't like it, use up all the remaining prepaid time, and don't top up the account. It will automatically cancel the account after 45 days. No contracts or fees.

One caveat, if you have an iPhone 4 or 4s, you need to cut the SIM down to a micro SIM. This can be done manually by using your existing micro SIM as a guide, or buying a tool off eBay for such purposes.

It is not perfect, and not for everyone, but I went from a $65/month 6GB data plan, to averaging approx. $15-$18/month with unlimited data. I do a lot of streaming and tether to my laptop when on the road, and can't complain. I don't do a whole lot of actually phone / texting. I mostly use data/apps and iMessaging.

I dont see Burke trading Gardiner under any circumstances... I think even Burke would trade Ph9 before Gards

This fight has nothing to do with which Sonnen shows up. And everything to do with which Silva shoes up. If the bored to death, i dont feel like fighting Silva shows up, then easy win for Sonnen. If the i have something to prove finally Silva shows up and ready to go, then Sonnen is in a world of (frank)ing hurt. One more uninspiring boring fight from Silva in the main event, could even despite his talent, be the end for him in the UFC.

As for GSP he is a great wrestler with next to no knockout power, and usually dominates on the mat. The biggest missing aspect of GSP's game isnt striking, it is BJJ, and if he trained more in this area of his game he would be a much better, tougher all around fighter. He dominates on the ground but has next to no submission skills, and he should cause then i believe he could be lethal. Its obvious he cannot knock people out, he doesnt have the power, so he should be working much more on submitting people IMO. Especially seeing as how dominate he has been on the ground.

- eihcnerf

I have never actually heard that perspective on GSP before, but I think you might be on to something. Supposedly he s freakishly strong, including the hips, so you are right he *should* have more submissions. One of the problems may be that his game planning sometimes includes NOT passing guard, just to ensure he maintains control.

GSP fights to win, and not get hurt. Unfortunately, he has become boring, whereas the younger version of GSP was one of the most exciting guys to watch.

It's official: the word "mentor" is now being overused more than "warrior."

GSP is the best technical fighter to fight in UFC history, no doubt about it.
- big_dion

I like Royce Gracie in that spot, but the sport as progressed so far from the freakshows they were to a legit main event sport watched around the world, the fighters now are so much better athletes and cross trained in every discipline of martial arts, wrestling and boxing. Hard to say right now. But considering how much better the freakshow became to be main stream, and the progression of the athletes along with it, it is rather likely you are correct about GSP.

Well you know what i mean, if a team covets him in the near future, Burke will only take an overpayment (depending how Gards plays this year). Gardiners value to the Leafs is like Eberle/Hall/RNH is to Edmonton.

Before anyone starts saying Gardiner isnt in the same class as those guys, relax, im not saying that, im just talking about value to their respective teams.

There isn't a single guy on the Leafs who should be considered untouchable.

All trades will be considered.

That is all.

If their options are to play hockey and lose 20 million dollars or not play hockey and not lose any money, I think they would be okay with not playing hockey. The teams that lose money during a lockout are the teams that turn profits every year.
