I know. Will be interesting to see if Iginla reaches FA what will happen.

Yea, if he seeks the 7mil per that he currently makes then noway.....I believe we are in agreement that we are so over these 35+ contracts......

Throw it all at Weber and kick the tires on Perry/Getzlaf.......even though we have centers, Getlzaf is a beast

i think matta was on the board when they picked in rd 1 and thrower was definitely on the board when they picked in rd 2

Määttä vs. Laughton came down to this: potential shutdown defenseman with modest offensive upside vs. potential shutdown center the organization believes has untapped offensive offensive potential as well.

They decided Laughton was the best available player. We won't know for about five years if they made the right call.

The non-Flyers scout with whom I texted shortly after the Laughton pick likened his potential to John Madden -- and Madden in his Selke-winning prime was a player than any team in the NHL would have killed to have, despite his somewhat modest offense.

If that's how Laughton develops, no complaints here. It would be gravy if the Richards/Henrique comparisons that the Flyers and Laughton himself come to fruition.

#Flyers are reportedly $102-million dollars into Ryan Suter. Just think what they would/will throw at Shea Weber…

Wowsa thats a lot of dough

- aosplayo

That's the cost of replacing a beast like Carle.

If Toronto plays him at Center I think it would be a huge mistake. I don't see JVR being a playmaker, he's at his best when he's on the wing using his size and speed and getting to the net.
- PLindbergh31

Agreed. I expect him to have a very frustrating season.

I think were being used to drive up the price by these 2, and that's fine.

I believe our intentions are to actually sign them, not drive up the prices from our perspective.

I think 1 of the 2 if not both will have a "holy poop" moment shortly, if not already about the lengths we are willing to go.

Media can say money isnt the main factor all they want about these 2, until it hits the point that money has become the main factor, and at this point I dont see a breaking point for Snider like you said, all in.

I have yet to hear a report that the Flyers are out on either one, while others have been reported as being out 1 by 1.

It's JVR. He'd have a frustrating season even if he was playing in position.

if your scout friend is right, I'd rather have the dman maata. hopefully, Laughton can give us 15- 20 goal production from a 3rd line center position. just don't know if you draft a guy who projects that way w/ your first pick when there are dmen on the board that are closely rated.

If they haven't choosen yet then money is playing a VERY big (maybe the biggest)factor. Its the only changing variable at this point.

I'm sure he's attract quite a few offers. Probably not that high unless it's for a couple of years. But then again, who knows? Just when some whacko sets the bar as high as you think it can possibly go, another takes his place the following year and stuns you again.

Why can't they just stop the insanity and cap the cap ceiling? Any increase in revenues year to year can be pro rated back to the owners and mandated that it be applied to reducing ticket costs.

Eh, just a wild thought.

It all depends. If he plays Center I would agree. If they keep him on the Wing, and he stays healthy I can see a 25+ goal season, and epic female doging in these threads.

Theres no question in my mind JVR can be a 20-25 goal scorer, it's more about him doing it consistently.

That seems to be the most likely scenario. Once these guys sign, Holmgren can focus on improving the team. Lots of holes right now.

I'm hoping his skating improves and evolves into more of a Dave Poulin-esq player. Then we've got something there.
