The Flyers lost some key players but I'm still happy they didn't overpay and get stuck with a bad contract. Homer still has a chance to upgrade but no need to be disappointed bc they will have a solid club next year. - stveshdy
After last year, I'm not going to say a really young guy like a Cousins can't make it to the big club and contribute. That being said, I want Dominic Moore signed.

Well, what's done is done. My assumption is the organization feels Meszy and Kimmo will be ready to go by opening night or pretty close afterward. Assuming these guys aren't dealt, I would assume we will see a lot more of Voracek and Read on the point on the PP paired with one of Kimmo or Meszy. - ravishingone
If no other moves are made on the defense, then I would expect Meszaros to get an opportunity. I think he has offensive upside. But I'm expecting some other moves to be made.

Thats what I've been saying. Sign Moore for 4th line center, he wins draw at 55% clip which would be the best of any current Flyer. Also you could move Talbot to Couturier wing and Moore can also play some PK |

I won't panic, plenty of time to do something else. No matter what I'm still a fan of the organization. - ob18
Most big names went to depleted teams, no strong teams became any stronger
still VERY early to cook up anything. |

You surprised the Red Wings didn't get Carle?
I wonder if Detroit made him any offers? |

Boy outside Doan, the UFA cupboard is pretty much bare now. I get that they can make a trade, but it'd be nice to have some better UFAs to replace the pieces with if necessary. |

I'm not surprised. I have no idea who made offers to who. I'm surprised the Flyers didn't match that offer. But I think we'll find out why in the near future.

You either hated Matt Carle or hated the people that complained about him. At least that's over with. |

Just strange that Detroit wasn't a front runner on that, or anything said, losing Lidstrom & Stuart makes there D look weaker than ours depth wise, (with the panic of our D),
I thought on those notes, he would be $ to go to the wings. |

maybe carle didn't want to be the guy brought in to take lidstroms spot...as inaccurate as that perception would be. |

Because Carle isn't worth more then 5 mill a season ...5.5 is an overpayment and Homer was smart enough to hold his ground on his offer |

The Flyers have some cap space which is good. They can still trade for some players and go hard after Doan. I'm happy they didn't overpay. Lots of young guys ready to take on bigger roles. Opportunities open up with the departure of these players. Let's go Flyers! |

I am, he be perfect for their system of puck possession. Plus his outlet passes were second to none. |

Matter of opinion. And overpaying for a position of need in Free Agency, is something every team does. If you want a quality player, you have to overpay. We'll see what Holmgren has up his sleeve. |

Detroit is smart enough not to give that kind of contract to a slightly above average D-man.
Only mistake thus far that Holmgren has made is signing Leighton imo. Not a huge issue but he should have moved on from there.
Not paying outrageous sums to Jagr and Carle was very smart. |

I think the $5 million cap boost hurt them, as you don't see any teams trying to shed $, instead they are trying to fill with bodies, having cap space is a good thing, but I guess it doesn't matter as much when almost everyone else has it as well. |

I'm not a super big fan, but I would have paid him the $$ given the alternatives. maybe homer has a deal in the works for a young dman of a higher caliber than L schenn. |

Minnesota's cap is really interesting. Forwards eat up a whopping $43 million, even with Suter signed d-men under $15 million. Suter and Gilbert better play 30 minutes a night. |
