Interesting... Didn't think of that. Lots of weight on schenn's shoulders - Just5
Schenn has played what 55-60 NHL games at this stage of his career? No way I put that kind of pressure on him and play him on the top line.
Briere makes sense for a couple of reasons:
1. He has experience playing with Hartnell.
2. It opens up a center spot for a more defensive minded player |
|

He can't play wing, he's more effective at center, and he'll need to center the 2nd line unless Schenn has a monster camp.
I would have liked to see us unload Briere, but I guess he becomes our "stopgap veteran" this season in that role, so Schenn can assume the 2nd line thereafter.
Maybe Simmonds or Read can elevate to the top line, unless Jake improves his finish, then again, it's still early, this isn't the team that's going to October I believe.
If Homer is being careful in his next major move, that may be a good thing - puckhead17
Briere's defense liabilities are magnified at Center. |

Agree on point 2 but, he can't play wing, he's not a corner guy, as well he is more like a line catalyst, and G is the catalyst on that line |

Idk, I view Breire as more of a goal scorer, than a playmaking Center. |

I couldn't agree more, I've said it on these boards B4 that I would rather have a 40 point 2 way responsible center than a 60 point playoff beast that doesn't back check,
Naturally, we saw that offense didn't win the cup again, don't get me wrong, I appreciate Briere's ability and everything, but it's about being better defensively |

He'd be playing with Giroux. Many a rookie has played on a top line in the NHL. Not saying he's the best choice. But the pressure of playing on the top line isn't an issue.

It's July 4th. We're no where close to even thinking about grading Holmgren's off season. To even think of doing so is extremely premature. |

Yes, to give a final grade it would be premature. That why I asked thus far.

Any attempt to grade at this point is premature.

He's already walked. He's gone.
I can't wait to see the financial terms of this deal. |

So the Wild GM can't be given a grade thus far because it's July 4 |

I get the odd feeling homer is gonna overpay for Ryan or Nash |
