I would give them jake read and a 1st. It's steep but g needs a superstar paired with him. I love g I followed him in jrs and everything pair him with another star and the sky is the limit. I honestly think g will be one of the best players to don the o and b. put he needs a running mate
- griouxmvp2012

No way I do that one. I'm not so worried about making G the best player in the league. Need to focus on this team playing better team defense.

Sbisa... meh... I think the safest play is signing Doan.

JVR, Jagr, Carle out
Doan, L. Schenn in

Not ideal, but not a terrible tradeoff.

i just want the team as a whole to improve. i really dont care about Giroux's point totals.

not saying thats all youre about, but it just seems like some lose sight of the ultimate goal and focus on the big splash.

If you trade Voracek, and Read for Ryan, you will have lost JVR, Jagr, Read, and Voracek and added Ryan.

That is losing a bunch of offense. Still leaves the Flyers short up front.

- PLindbergh31

They just can't trade read. He is ridiculously valuable with that contract. I trust that they won't knowing how leino helped the team

That's our prob we have to many offensive players in our top nine we need more checking defensive players in our bottom 6

and the young guys expected to play a bigger role. Obviously JVR was supposed to be part of that, but the others need to step up. and this year they will get more of an opportunity.

Agreed. 20 goal scorers who can kill penalties for under 1M. Essential.

Yup. Hurts the depth some, have to hope the Flyers don't get crippled by injuries again.

Probably not likely. But a chance. Without Doan, I see the forward core being short. Jagr and JVR are top 6 forwards. Sure there are plenty of players who are capable of moving up, but then you lose some offense on the third and fourth lines.

Is Rinaldo and Sestito both going to be in the lineup? That is kind of redundant. Also means Wellwood may have to play in the top 9

i want this team to grow together. maybe they wont be contenders (on paper or in reality) this year. but id like the core to really perfect Lavy's system...so that when they grow and are ready to contend they can execute the system to perfection.

I wouldnt mind being patient and making a big FA signing or trade next year or when the time is right.

Jägr was a stop gap, no offense to him, but he was here to buy us a years time on some of the kids, was everyone hopeful of him playing another year, a year older, and getting almost 20 goals again?
and JVR was given the chances but was either injured or didnt use his size and strength to his ability.
I should say to this point at least

I understand what you are saying, and tend to agree. Under Holmgren patience isn't exactly a virtue. I believe it comes from Snider. I truly believe his age is a deterrent when trying to build for the future.

Fair points. I didn't want Jagr brought back this year. I figured JVR would be given the spot on the Giroux line.

Right now there isn't a great option to play on that line with Giroux and Hartnell. I think the player that makes the most sense is Briere.

He can't play wing, he's more effective at center, and he'll need to center the 2nd line unless Schenn has a monster camp.
I would have liked to see us unload Briere, but I guess he becomes our "stopgap veteran" this season in that role, so Schenn can assume the 2nd line thereafter.

Maybe Simmonds or Read can elevate to the top line, unless Jake improves his finish, then again, it's still early, this isn't the team that's going to October I believe.
If Homer is being careful in his next major move, that may be a good thing

so many things can change though. this time last year Hartnell seemed like the odd man out. Now he's a given to be on Giroux's wing.
