I agree. I think it's generally a good thing in all sports when the big market teams don't scoop up all the elite talent. It's the general idea of why there is a salary cap. Parity is supposed to rule the day. - PLindbergh31

I can see why they are upset. It's not easy losing a key player without any compensation. Poile better figure out the Weber situation. If they lose him for nothing that franchise will have a hard time recovering from that. |

I think if Homer is going to address winger, I think he does it sooner then later. There are going to be a lot of teams lining up Doan's door around July 9th, I wouldn't be shocked to get his 4 years and over $5 million/yr. |

I think Homer gives him 4 years no problem, that should be interesting to see how that plays out. |

There is going to be a bunch of contending teams in the market for Doan. Pitt, NYR, Philly just to name a few. He is going to get substantial offers. I wouldn't rule out him staying in Phoenix either.
Flyers lost two key wingers, both of which have size, Flyers are pretty small on the Wing now and that is a concern. |

I know it's hindsight, but he should have got something for him earlier, when you have a year to go, and the player won't commit send him out, they were in the playoff run & that cost them getting an asset or 2, they are pissed because he wasn't honest about the location of where he wanted to go when it was speculated for a while that he wanted to go to the Midwest. |

Disagree 100 percent. They made a run while they could and it was a well calculated risk. They did very well in the SC playoffs. Jmo |

That is exactly why Homer probably won't wait for Doan to decide by July 9th. I think the Gervais possible signing probably means a d-man will be moving in a trade. I don't think he will deal any of the top 5 d, probably Bourdon or Gus as part of a package. Bill M brought up an interesting name on twitter Paajarvi. Maybe trading for a winger who has fairly high expectations, but has yet to meet them. Seems like an intersting idea.

They could have, but if they still plan to trade him there is still plenty of time. They will have teams lined up around the block and should get a Kings ransom for Weber.
You can never fault a GM for keeping a team together when he believes they have a chance to win a Championship. After they handled Detroit fairly easily I thought Nashville was the team to beat in the West. |

If a d-man is on the move it's likely Grossmann, Coburn, or Meszaros. With Carle likely not back, and Timonen's status uncertain to start the season at least that leaves the Flyers very thin on the blueline.

Well, then they should be pumped over there playoff run, but they aren't, they are pissed.
If its a Kostitsyn I can see, but not a player that is so valuable, others will follow him out the door, they were talking about he & Weber for a few years not committing.

Depending on what it costs to bring him here, it may not improve the team. I think Ryan would be fantastic with Giroux, potentially a 40 goal scorer but if the Flyers have to part with a package of players you are opening more holes, while only filling one. |

No one accused Nashville of having a plethora of intelligent fans. Still the intelligent move by the GM. There is a term for people that don't go for the gold in life. They're called losers. |

Yes, but I meanthey'd hike back, they should have dealt with it then, not with several months or a year to go, like Pittsburgh did with Staal, make your offer, he refuses, start the bidding. Imagine Shero sitting on Staal til he left, & getting nothing, the hardest part of being a GM is not your current team, but 3 or 5 years down the road, & Poile didn't do that, and now they are calling Suter this and that. |

If the Flyers could get Ryan for lets say Voracek, MAB/Gusty, and a 1st I think they would have to do the deal. Th only problem is it looks like the Ducks want more established D-men in any Ryan trade. |

I would give them jake read and a 1st. It's steep but g needs a superstar paired with him. I love g I followed him in jrs and everything pair him with another star and the sky is the limit. I honestly think g will be one of the best players to don the o and b. put he needs a running mate |

I would do that deal in a second. But I think Anaheim is going to want more. |

If you trade Voracek, and Read for Ryan, you will have lost JVR, Jagr, Read, and Voracek and added Ryan.
That is losing a bunch of offense. Still leaves the Flyers short up front. |
