Yep. The Flyers are losers because they didn't get to hand two very good, but not elite, players elite money for the next 13 years. Oh how (frank)ed we are as a team and fanbase. - Jsaquella
Back to fantasizing about ripping the team apart to get Nash/Ryan. game on!
You said he brought toughness which the team lacked I brought up Hartnell being a tough player but you told me he's not as tough as Simmonds. I'll leave you with a video maybe our definitions of tough are not the same either way the tape don't lie

some people just hate the sight of blood. I'm not holding that against Simmonds.
I'm not sure how this evolved into a Simmonds vs Hartnell comparison. My original point was that I think what Simmonds brings to this team is more valuable than what Jake brings. At least at this point, considering Jake's trouble finishing. - FlyerGuy
I disagree. Agreed that Jake isn't a strong finisher or a true sniper. But I think puck possession is key in today's NHL and specifically in Lavy's system. And that is where Jake really excels. Few players can control the puck like he can, and even fewer can do it with speed. The Flyers need that kind of player (especially now that they don't have Jagr and JVR).
I love Simmonds and agree that he brings a lot of things the Flyers need. Certainly wouldn't want to lose him. But to say he's overall more valuable to the team than Jake is a vast undervaluing of Jake imo.

I'm not sure where you're going here.
Are you saying because Simmonds had to be talked through a simple nail pr!ck with his jersey over his head, that he's not tough enough?

All good points. I too love Jake and what he brings to the Flyers. Although I kind of think we're forgetting how great Simmonds was at controlling the puck along the boards.
There's quite a few prominent American Physicists at CERN working on the Hadron Project. The Fermi Lab in Chicago has the same info, aswell. - KINGKENZO

Both players have a bright future, for sure. - FlyerGuy
Not forgetting - Simmonds is definitely great at winning board battles. But he's not good at carrying the puck in open ice, or even keeping the puck once he wins it along the boards. These are the things at which Jake is very good.
Agreed both have bright futures and both are important to the team. Just disagree with your earlier post that Simmonds is more important than Jake.
Anyway, glad we didn't crush our cap with Suter or Parise (or god forbid both of them). And glad they're not in Pitt, or even our conference. Time for some good ol' American yard work before neighborhood seafood boil party this evening.
You kids be safe, and remember, just say NO to Nash and Ryan.

I keep reading Voracek has trouble finishing. He scored 18 goals last year. That's a solid total in the NHL.

He flat out KO'ed Eric Brewer. Simms is only 185ish, Brewer 6'3 230ish - KINGKENZO
