without undoing all that homer built last year, I can't see how anything he could offer now (Jake+Mez+pick) can't be outdone by someone else for either of those guys. For Ryan Homer would be brain-dead for doing it, he's a UFA in three years, so in all likelihood Anaheim might look to move him in a year or two. Nash is just overpaid, I don't see how taking on that contract is conducive to building a balanced cup team.

Agree somewaht, but sorry my buddy, I don't think Nash is overpaid anymore, what did Parise & Suter get per year?
also, what will Getzlaf & Perry sign for next year?
Nash's salary is just about in line, pretty close the way the market has shot up, he just received more sooner

On the fence but I would prob say "Yes". Just because its a 5 year deal and not 13. Though I prefer the cap hit to be at 5 at the highest.

So difficult to find a package that works for both sides.

out of curiosity, would y'all rather give up simmonds or jake in a deal?

hint: if you say jake, you are dumb.

- OrangeBlack27

love Jake ... but Simmonds is exactly the kind of sandpaper this team has been missing for years.

I guess it depends on a team's cap structure. I'd just rather roll the dice on Schenn and Voracek making strides on those measely deals they have.

W/O Suter I don't see him staying even for $10 million a year, because several other may come close to that

there are going to be more suitors for him now then there were for Parise,
chances are slim even if he does leave Phoenix

jake is by far the better puck possession player. isn't that a better fit for lavy system?

As I said, I love Jake. But it also seems obvious that the guy (for all his speed) simply has trouble finishing.

I prefer Simmonds to Voracek. Close call though.

If Jake improves his finishing he's gonna be a helluva a player I'd try to hold onto him.
