Asham can kick some serious ass that's for sure, maybe even more so then Prust. He's been heralded as the best middleweight in the league. The only thing I'm worried about for him is his age and his concussion history.
- RAG$4LIFE

Yea I am liking the Asham and Pyatt at 2.5millon combined cap hit a lot more than just Prust at 2.5mill cap hit.

Sather did good at allocating the Prust money

They wouldn't trade both DZ/Erixon, they would need to keep one for puck moving ability. I'd rather keep Erixon as he will be more consistent and has a better shot.
Id offer Dubinsky/DZ/Miller/1st and maybe a midrange prospect or 3rd rounder.

The only thing is is that Prust money really that significant when there's still 14 or so million to reach the cap? Almost all the teams are sitting pretty with 15 or so million in cap space. Its not like the Rangers are pressed for cap space.

i really like the pyatt signing. Obviously he's not as physical as prust. but pyatt is capable of 15 goals and 30 to 35 points. perfect 3rd line player.

I think a big thing on the Prust deal with the Rangers is they didn't wanna go 4 years for him.

They project some of these prospects to be better than him in a couple of years, and that's obvious with these two year deals they seem to be giving out.

Rangers very interested in Shane Doan and his agent specifically mentions Manhattan in Brooks column today.

Just curious, would getting Doan eliminate the possibility of Nash or Ryan?

Doan is a UFA and is 100% made from the mould of a Tortarella coached team. He would be a great addition to the Rangers on a two year deal. But, he is 35 years old.

Ryan is a gifted offensive player. But, he does not play very good D. He and Torarella would be having to talk. Ryan and Carlyle had a tough relationship because of his defensive lapses. He will prove expensive on the trade market, probably require the same return as Nash. He is three full years younger than Nash.

Nash has all the offensive skill of Ryan and he plays responsible D. But he has a really big contract that goes for a long time. Nash is now three years past his peak production and I would wonder if his skill set is in substantial decline.

If I could only have one, my order of preference would be Ryan, Doan, Nash. If the Rangers got Ryan they could hire Larry Brooks to mediate the conflicts between Ryan and Tortarella. But, it would be worth thr try because the kid is an enormous talent.

Thanks for the insight. I had no idea the trouble with Ryan had to do with his defensive play, which will not sit well with Torts. As much as I like Doan, I don't think he'll be able to provide enough scoring help te team needs, although he is exactly the type player the team loves, at 35 just not sure. I'm figuring Nash's goal production would see an uptick if he came to the Rangers, being exercised from Columbus.

Read Brooksie as well. Sick of this dance with Howson.

Count me in on Doan. That's a total win win signing, if we can do it. Guy is hungry to win a cup as well. Keep the young ones!!

As long as something happens, cause all the prospects in the world won't help Hank, or Girardi, or Staal or Gabby etc. this year.

Something is going to happen. It might take some time, but I am confident they will explore all trade possibilities. I love how they won't just rush into a trade. Be patient, cause the offensive void might take a few weeks to fill.

Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Steve Sullivan is looking to move on from the Penguins thanks to things getting a bit too busy there for his liking.

Nice, as long as he doesn't go to Philly I am fine with both Suter and Parise going to the Wild.
