This would be the greatest present ever if the Hawks got both of them. That would be a coup of epic proportions. I would immediately buy a Parise sweater and maybe even write a letter to Stan Bowman apologizing for every nasty thing said about him on this board. - anawrocki
I'd probably write Scotty instead for him possibly giving his son the "what the f*ck are you doing?!" talk. |

Thanks for the update JJ and major kudos to the Hawks for at least making significant offers for Suter and Parise.

" $14 million in cash, on the table and not spread out over a number of years, is a powerful psychological weapon. It is hard to walk away from it, and it sends the message: we're the Chicago Blackhawks, one of the richest, highest profile brands in pro sports, and if you join us, you can expect more iike this . . . in endorsements, winning and lifestyle." - JJ
AND THIS IS EXACTLY THE MESSAGE THAT SHOULD BE SENT!!!
This is Chicago, dammit - a world-class city with more opportunity for anything you want than almost any other city around.
This is the Blackhawks, dammit - an original 6 city with the highest attendance in the league and the ability to provide first-class perqs. - StLBravesFan

Ahh I see. Well don't get too cranky to miss out on some good music - prd797
I won't.
Going to see Bob Mould preform Sugar's "Copper Blue" album in its entirety.
I guess I would like it more if it was a Husker Du album instead. It should be good none the less. |

My potential enthusiasm of both signing with Chicago is quickly tempered by the Swiss cheese slated to be the #1 netminder. Sorry to be the pessimist, but all you people needed to be brought back to earth anyway. - eburgio
Chi is gonna trade Kane to LA for a Bernier package if they sign Parise. Just watch. |

The Hawks being players for these guys at this point is the type of boldness we have been crying for from this management. So Kudos to them.
I hear young Zak is "all stressed out" about the $10 mil per for 10 he is looking at.
I really feel for him! |

Signing both of these guys would be awsome. Not signing either one or both would be a crushing blow to Hawks fans everywhere. Bowman will be villified if he fails here. - rnewman291
In a perfect world, the Hawks sign both guys and can trade away all their crap for whatever the return is. But no matter what happens with Parise and Suter, I think Bowman will still be villified on this blog. Term was too long! Too much $$$! Why would we trade Kane?!!! Blah blah blah...Somehow, if we don't get both, or even one of them, it will be all Bowman's fault!
Another thing...if we did happen to get these two, I think CC would be fine in net, because we'd have the puck for 50 minutes a night! Well, hopefully we would...but those two add a TON of what the Hawks need...
Here's hoping for the best, and hoping JJ's prognostications and logic are viewed the same by the Suter and Parise camps... |

Plus:
Best aquarium, art institute, science museum.
Downtown mag mile.
Only city in the US where a ballpark is a top-3 tourist attraction.
Tallest US bldg, >150 year-old water tower.
Best pizza (real pizza), beef sammiches and hot dogs.
Less bodies floating in less toxic waters.
Lake shores you can actually go in most days of the year.
and... not named the garden state because you can't fit "petrochemical and refinery state" on a license plate... - blackhawk24

Ek is reporting that NJ matched the $ for the Parise deal. My question, if the league is lending money to the NJ franchise, does this mean that other teams are giving money to block Chicago from signing Zach? As a fan, if NJ cannot support the payroll by it's owners, then they should not be able to sign contracts.
This just smells like Bettmans soiled pants to me. Please, someone take him out. |
