while i was initially excited by the thought of parise skating with sid i can now say that i no longer want the pens to sign him. for a number of reasons: 1) the $ amount should not exceed sid. if there is extra $ on the table, can you sign geno instead? 2) while i appreciate him taking time to consider his options, didnt he know that this was the final year of his contract in october?

too much money, too much indecisiveness. sign doan, trade for yandle, re sign sullivan, promote some d men, give geno an extension. what about Hemsky?

Seems like we're missing out on some solid Dmen as we wait on these two big names.

I wanted to see us sign Doan and Allen or a guy like Salvador. Now I don't even have my sights set on a specific Dman out there. It's a bit much to ask Niskanen to play a top 4 role and it's even more to ask 1 or 2 of the prospects to come up and be a factor all season.

I have no issue with Niskanen as a 3 or 4 defenseman. The guy was a first round draft pick after all. Unless they pick up Scott Hannan as a 5 or 6, I'm content letting the prospects go after the bottom 2 spots. I sound like a broken record, but at some point, you need to find out what you've got.
