And the Leafs... do nothing.

Burke will do something.

He knows he has to. To many wingers. to many bodies.

Kind of a dumb question, but does Kane ever play center?

... Just wondering, if the Hawks get Parise...

- GoneFullRetard

He played it in junior.

And he's played it in Chicago this past season out of necessity.

He sucks as a center, though.

I know we need a #1 Center, but I would be pissed if Burke struck out on a number 1 center and passed on a chance to land say...Ryan or Nash because he had bigger needs.

I know we need a goalie and a center, but we can't assume there are any of those available or any teams willing to deal with the Leafs.

I find it absurd people waive off the notion of landing star wingers in the hopes and prayers of getting a center. You upgrade every position any chance you get, you dont pass on those opportunities assuming you can fill all your needs.

Leafs have been looking for a #1 C and goalie for 3 seasons now. In a year from now Lupul could be gone. We are a season away from needing a #1 winger, when Lupul is barely even that.

Lets not be stupid folks. This team badly needs Ryan and Nash type players. We have bigger needs sure, but we also have a ton of improving to do in ALL areas.

We should really get on trading for Ryan O'Reilly before he wins a Selke trophy, and also establishes himself as a top6 C, even more so than he has.

Agreed. At least a couple or more trades before the season starts.

I agree. I think it is especially true since the Leafs are really more than just a #1 C away from being a good team, nevermind a competitive one.

I wonder though if the team needs a Nash/Ryan more than a goalie right now? Not saying I would pay anything significant for Luongo, but they made need some decent assets to trade for a goalie.

How good would chicago look if they did get Parise, and then were able to trade Kane for Miller...

So what does Burke trade for Tim Thomas?

... It is not like him and Chiarelli have diffculty making deals.

Do we think Tim Thomas is really taking this year off?

Leafs need a goalie more than anything. But other than Luongo, nobody that fills this teams needs is available.

Needing a goalie does not mean you pass on superstar wingers, especially when Free Agency does not produce elite talent like it once did.

Hawks would be killer...damn. But even look at them. They won a cup without a goalie. And what are they doing now, when they need a goalie? Not ignoring the stars available and going hard after them, despite having a bigger need. Its what winning teams do. Get the best players available.

... but I would LOVE to see more western teams loading up. It just makes it that much more difficult for Vancouver to win.

Vancouver never winning almost makes the Leafs futility bearable.

So true.

I just can't get over notion that some Leaf fans look at Lupul and think to themselves, nope we don't need Ryan or a Nash type of player.

Speaking of Canucks, how bad would it be if Schneider struggles this season and Luongo is gone....

yeah he is, but I think he could have one more good year left in him... and if the Leafs are out of it, but he is playing well, he could be a good chip at
the deadline.
