Well said.

The only thing I'd add is who truly believes that a team with Derek as a 1C will win the Cup?

- l.stanley

There's a few here who do, apparently.

So looks like we have 2 letters to fill for next season.

So who are your choices as of now?

I think im going Myers and Ehrhoff/Regier

- CaptPantalones

Myers is not ready, he needs to worry about becoming a better player.

I know, but come on. He's the first player to wear the swords in YEARS that looks like he has the size, toughness, character and personality to wear a C. He'll have it eventually. Impossible to ignore that.
- truthbluth

Possibly, but it's still a very, very small sample size. The reason everyone jumps to that conclusion is because of his last name. Too many people living in the past. Let him grow and be his own player.

The only young guy I wanted to see be given the C (and it's a good thing they didn't) was Myers because he is supposed to be their franchise defenseman. I said let him take the ball and run with it. It's going to be his team sooner or later.

Agreed... They want Myers.. but he isn't ready to carry a team..

Pommer - C
Ehrhoff - A
Stafford/Vanek - A (even though I don't want it.. it will be likely)

I don't believe this team would win a Cup with Roy on it at all, even if he were at 4C.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

You forgot Campbell, McQuaid and Chara too. The Sabres are still a bunch of female dogs not making playoffs. So you're going try to brawl with the big boys now? Who is going to score goals after those 2 get their asses kicked, Kaleta pees himself and Vanek is hurt(yet again)? I'm sure Myers will be disappointing, Ennis gets hurt again and Gerbe wishes he was a little bit taller.... So that's Pomenville and occasionally Stafford?

Thanks for making my day with crap Garth and BuffaLOL

Kaleta sure pissed himself there.

Say there is a huge Sabres / Bruins all out brawl;
you say Bruins fight with.. Campbell, McQuaid, Chara, Lucic, and Thornton so the Sabres respond with Weber, Ott, Kaleta, McCormick, and Scott.

Now you tell me who loses the more valuable players there. Assuming Vanek and Ennis are injured like you say, it'll be safe to say that Marchand is likely suspended for 'protecting himself' or partied too hard at the local Guys-Only strip club and that Horton is also injured.

That being said, I'll take the Sabres roster over your Pregnant Bears roster 100 times out of 100.

Yeah I think hes ready. And even if hes not, its symbolic of the new guard taking hold. He can learn on the fly from others

Enough with the letters moving fromplayer to player, Pommer, Vanek and Stafford. I don't like it but it's that way now leave it alone, if they did move a letter 24 or 10 maybe should get one.

Careful with that though. Pominville elevated his game tremendously when he was given the C. That sort of responsibility can do wonders for a players' confidence. It can also ruin a player. I don't know if Myers can get much worse than the "valleys" he's hit with his career of "peaks and valleys" so far, so I'm not sure it can hurt.

Agreed...

Scott, Ott, McCormick, Kaleta, Regehr, Ehrhoff, or Foligno would be most likely to step onto the ice...

However i'm sure he is. Seems the price for Bobby Ryan is going to go up once Parise and Nash move, I hope Darcy doesn't wait to long.

Price will raise for Ryan too because he doesn't have a NTC to deal with which will bring more bidders.

You very well could. Along with Myers, Regehr and Tropp/Pardy. Who else do the Bruins have that can fight? ... oh..

One thing I can say for sure... our biggest concerns going into this off season were

1. Get a 1C
2. Get tougher
3. Add offensive scoring depth
4. Get young talent at C postion

I can say that 2 and 4 are done crossed off of this list.. and adding Ott at 3C will increase that line's production as well to add scoring depth but not enough to cross it off.. far more than Boyes/Gaustad/Hodge were able to bring that line to last year..

I still think we add another Winger.. whether it be Semin.. who knows.. but we need a winger..

Vanek - Hodge - Pommer
Leino - Ott - ??
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford

I know people will say that Grigs will be there but it is NOT a guarantee by any means.. and Ott might be a "winger" on paper.. but he will take all the draws and then move out to winger. 55.5% will not be wasted... he will be a top PK guy as well.. Ott - Pommer/Kaleta.

Im not sure hes even an option anymore. Judging by Regier's comments yesterday, there far more likely to try and grab a center

didn't I hear that Anaheim has as many as 10 offers for Ryan??

Boston, Buffalo, Carolina, Colorado, EDM, MIN, Mon, NYI, OTT, Philly, and TOR would be best guesses.. even thou that is 11.

I wondered last night if the news that leaked aboout the Sabres being "in on" Nash wasn't generated by the Sabres to put a little pressure on the Ducks. Same thing with Darcy's line that they have offers "out there".

It sure seems like Anaheim has the upper hand here and Ryan's vallue will go up, but the Ducks are playing with a little fire here. Wait too long and the teams that want Ryan may move on. Nash and Doan (and Parise) are all out there as well.

You know that is a good thought process... There are fake rumors and little things said all the time that are used to stir the pot. I think that Nash thing is completely over blown.. I think a few people just said "Okay so Buffalo is active because they made a trade... lets put them into the Nash debacle!"

I got wiff of that as well to be honest, sound like a center coming in and a D man maybe moving out.

There will always be a strong market for Bobby Ryan. That shouldn't affect the Ducks at all. If anything I bet they wouldn't mind Nash moving first, then they have the last remaining quality chip which IMO is the most valuable one out there.
