Regier hinting at wanting that #1 C really makes me worry...
I just have a gut feeling we are gonna be connected to Stastny's name alllllll week now..
not once has Getzlaf name actually come up from any analysts or insiders that he is being shopped... - JVince11
He said a "big" center, not necessarily a "#1" center, which makes a guy like Arnott a possibility, or Shane Doan, who is still techincally unsigned, although I think he's going back to Phoenix and is waiting until July 9th when the Phoenix ownership thing is supposed to be official. |

hypothetically, if somehow we get both bobby ryan and rick nash (2 of the main people there are rumors of trading for) what do we do about a center? |

oh was that the actual terminology?? hmmm...
interesting... I don't see Doan leaving the desert and if he does.. it will be to go to a team like Detroit or a SoCal team to get a ring chance.. |

Agreed, you can forget about Getzlaf. Two guys that could be traded, with a minimum of Vanek going the other way. Joe Thornton, Vinny Lecavalier. Not saying it's likely, but both trades make some sense for both teams. Lecavalier's insane contract probably won't scare Terry Deep Pockets, and teaming Vanek with Stamkos and St. Louis would be scary. San Jose arguably has 4 top 6 C in Pavelski, Thornton, Couture, and Marleau. Cap hits are very similar. Obviously there are NMCs to worry about. But it's not impossible.
Ok, flame on. Call me a moron. |

......... there is no way in the world that we would have the pieces to get both of those guys.. we would have ot trade draft picks up til year 2020.
We really only have the pieces without salvaging our future or depth to acquire one more top 6 guy and Regier has said it will be a "big" Center I guess..
Ryan would be nice but they want a lot.... nash is even more in request. |

If you get a guy like Rick Nash, someone like Jason Arnott would do just fine. |

I have said from day one that if SJ does not get Nash that they will immediately be looking to upgrade their team in any way possible and I think that starts with trading either Thornton or Marleau..
Lecavalier is a guy that could really use a restart to his career.. if it is in Buffalo I would be cautious.. but I would realize that he is a GREAT talent.. he just needs the motivation.
In either deal... i think Vanek would HAVE to go just to equal out salaries unless we are able to trade like Stafford and Sekera which is almost 7M in space as well. |

You forgot Campbell, McQuaid and Chara too. The Sabres are still a bunch of female dogs not making playoffs. So you're going try to brawl with the big boys now? Who is going to score goals after those 2 get their asses kicked, Kaleta pees himself and Vanek is hurt(yet again)? I'm sure Myers will be disappointing, Ennis gets hurt again and Gerbe wishes he was a little bit taller.... So that's Pomenville and occasionally Stafford?
Thanks for making my day with crap Garth and BuffaLOL - glove_was_stuck
I erased all of the emoticons because it make syou look like you are 12..

I dont think Doan is an option anymore. I cant see him coming all the way North.

This team with Ehrhoff in the lineup and out of the lineup was night and day (in the opposite way of Derek Roy). My vote goes to him if we're choosing between those two. |

I'm OK with less than 25% of the roster having a letter. Leave it alone. If one has to be handed out, I guess Ehrhoff. |

I agree, but with the way Darcy Regier said that they had "standing offers" out to certain Free Agents, I would have to think that Doan would be one of them, with Parise being the other. Otherwise, we'd know, either by them signing here, or somewhere else. |

I'd like to think Myers and Foligno, but I'm guessing Ott and Erhoff. |

Too soon, but I see him as our future captain, maybe splitting the C with Girg |

I know, but come on. He's the first player to wear the swords in YEARS that looks like he has the size, toughness, character and personality to wear a C. He'll have it eventually. Impossible to ignore that. |

Look man, I'm not going to argue with you that Ruff is more to blame than Derek. I think Ruff gets a free pass. But Derek Roy was done here. He just was. Fans don't have patience for his act anymore, and he trashed Ruff on locker clean out day. After that, it was going to be him or Ruff, and personally, I was fine either way. I think it's time for a change here, but they chose to change players, so Roy is out. Maybe some new personalities will save Lindy, who knows? But you have to get over it with this trade. If you accept that Lindy didn't get fired, which he didn't, then you have to see the wisdom of clearing out the old core. Whether it's Roy's fault or not, he represented the fractured player-coach relationship in Buffalo. - truthbluth
Well said.
The only thing I'd add is who truly believes that a team with Derek as a 1C will win the Cup? |
