schopp has no insight into the game of hockey...he's an entertainer at best
- b0s0o1

I will say that Schopp does at least bring a different viewpoint every once in a while. There can be a groupthink mentality among just about any fanbase, that should be bucked at least every once in a while.

If Darcy is smart he will start to move the rest of the"core" if needed. Roy's time is over and sould have been after last season but he stayed one more year and then they give him an A. Roy is no leader and never will be.

When he was on the 3rd line and didn't draw the top line matchups that were so focused on Briere's and Drury's line? Absolutely. When the spotlight was on him, he failed. He wasn't alone, but he failed.
- buffalofan19

He averaged 17:08 minutes of icetime per game that playoffs, it's not like he was hidden. Briere averaged only 18:48 that playoffs. Don't act like Roy was worthless.

He definitely wasn't the guy teams were keyed in on stopping.

Im only considering giving up myers if getz is coming the other way. not for another winger like ryan.

No player on this team should be untouchable, including Myers.

Not sure if anyone was listening to WGR this morning, but they were actually talking about some of the "stuff" that Hockeyy Insiderr was tweeting and they mentioned he/she by name. Ugh...

No evidence of that has EVER been shown. Stop being a typical Buffalo sheep. If Bulldog on WGR says it, it must be true. What a joke. Lindy Ruff is the cancer in the locker room.
- lacaprup

I agree. WGR sucks at drive time. I got sick of the Roy is a Cancer take years ago. I do not listen to them anymore. We got robbed in this trade, but what can you do? Roy's injury had something to do with low return. The constant harping about him, by the Bulldog, turned the whole city against him. I hate even talking about them, because this is like free advertisement.

Agreed, but his mindset does sort of jive with mind that there's this misguided mentality in this region that more toughness needs to come in place of talent instead of along with talent.

For example, many (though certainly not all) people are happy with the Roy for Ott trade, as am I. However, where we differ is that there are many would be happy if they were done here. If this is the only move they make, it's not really a good offseason. It might be "okay", but not good.

Moving Roy is addition by subtraction. That the Sabres got a useful player, or possibly two, back is a bonus.

Derek Roy represented everything that has been wrong with the Sabres the past few years. He wasn't the only culprit, but he might have been the worst offender.

Good riddance.

The notion that Roy was a cancer didn't come from the Bulldog. It came from watching this team do a complete 180 when he left the lineup, while having a career year, and going from nearly dead last to making the playoffs and almost stealing a series they had no business even being competitive in.

Personally, I'm hoping Regier can talk Howson into Vanek being part of a package for Rick Nash. Obviously, there will be more to it, but perhaps Pegula can sell Nash on adding Buffalo to his "list".

On the plus side for the Stars, Dallas' bars close at 1 AM. Add the fact that Roy is in a contract year, and they should be happy with Derek this season. I for one love the trade and was hoping for Roy to be traded for years now. Love that the Sabres are moving forward with the new core of players while getting tougher along the way.

could you atleast please talk in realistic terms...

What have Ryan and Getzlaf won together in Anaheim that makes you think they will just kill it here???

Bring Ryan.. Getzlaf can stay..

Signing Semin is our safety valve incase everything falls through.

He's gotten enough right that I pay attention. I don't believe every thing. He has announced the Parise signing about 100 times already. But he either is getting credible information, or he's the luckiest SOB out there.

agreed...totally

talent is necessary, no doubt about it...but talent cannot fully produce if they're worried about getting their face pounded...

did a piece last july on how the northeast was getting tougher...this was from zenon konopka at the time: "I would put our team, toughness-wise, against anybody else, that’s for sure,” said Konopka, 30. “It’s going to be good for the young players, our skilled guys ... definitely make them more comfortable.”

sabres are a year late
