I like how you like to omit words I wrote in my original post to make yours. - Pierceme69
I didn't since it started with
The Sabres also played their best hockey in 4 years when he exited that career year. The argument should (and does) end there.

You followed it up with
And this year they played even better than last year in the second half (although later in the year) and he was playing. That was the most overused inaccurate argument ever by Roy bashers. - Pierceme69
You have to use how the Sabres did after game 35 in both seasons, since thats when Roy went out with an injury.
You have to use how the Sabres did after Roy went out with an injury since that was the original point. - dadeadhead
I don't have to use anything. If someone wants to cite an arbitrary period of time to make a point I can do the same. I will grant you that where I said 'later in the year' that was not a very good indicator of the time period I was citing. I should have said 'after the All-Star break'. Again, the bottom line is that if people want to cite a period where he was injured that the Sabres played really well it's just as easy to do the opposite. It's going to be funny now he's gone. All the people who love to complain about everything will have to find a new person to bag on. Vanek or Stafford are my guess. Leino is too obvious.

It's not arbitrary, it was stated the team did better after he went out with an injury.
You stated
"That was the most overused inaccurate argument ever by Roy bashers."
You challenged that, you were wrong by 10 points, and then omitted games to prove your point. End of story.

My point was in that time period there was a stretch of games (and not a small stretch either) where they played better with him than without him. Just like there was a stretch of games (also not a small stretch) where they played better without him. If you want to argue semantics at 4:45 in the morning we can, since it appears no one else is here, but that is my point.

There. Edited just for you DD. You can tell me I'm wrong still which I already conceded (by 1 point). And you can tell me I'm trying to omit games to make a point (they were 5 points better through 28 games) and these things will be true. But my point is never the less made.

They lost the playoffs by having a worse Jan and April of 12 compaired to Jan and April of 11.

12-3-2 in 11
5-8-2 in 12
Feb and March was pretty dead even.

17-7-5 in 12 - dadeadhead
Except the last 5 games. Your point is valid. It doesn't really matter where they win those extra few games, but it's pretty obvious at the end of 2010-11 they were 4-0-1 in their last 5 and 1-3-1 this past year. I think most non-pessimists thought that after we blasted Washington in Washington with 5 games left that we were 75/25 to get in.

They should have been. They took their foot off the gas in 2012. They didn't in 2011. That's been pretty common of this team in the Derek Roy era. The only time it didn't happen is when he wasn't on the ice.

Steve Ott does bring the Sabres something that they were lacking. However, he could tear both ACLs this season and miss all of next season with a Marcus Easley-esque heart condition, and Buffalo still wins this trade.

I really think change is good for this team!
Anyway, what did this team accomplish with the so called "CORE"??
IMO, this move had to be made, as Roy was the Cancer in that locker room!!
Better things to come for the Sabres.
Also, Darcy is not done yet. I sense something else happening soon.
GO SABRES
Terrible trade. You trade the guy who has led your team in points in three of the last five seasons (and had the highest ppg average on the team in his injury shortened season) after he has his FIRST bad season in 6 years. Oh yeah, he's in a contract year too. What do you trade him for? A (frank)ing bucket of pucks. Hey look, we've got Paul Gaustad back... complete with 2 goals in 18 career playoff games! Talk about useless.
Let's go down the list of all of the scapegoats that have been run out of town to protect Lindy Ruff:
Miro Satan
Dimitri Kalinin
Max Afinogenov
Ales Kotalik
Tim Connolly
Derek Roy
Remember, each one of these guys was the reason that the Sabres couldn't get over the hump. Each time it has been proven to be a lie. There is one common denominator and that is the idiot behind the bench.

No evidence of that has EVER been shown. Stop being a typical Buffalo sheep. If Bulldog on WGR says it, it must be true. What a joke. Lindy Ruff is the cancer in the locker room.
So who's the new scapegoat and "cancer in the room?" I'm going to guess it'll be Drew Stafford. So when the Sabres flame out again this season, we can all blame Stafford and forget about the moron coaching the team.
