Roy's ice time was also diminished. This team is a far better one with him not being on it, period. - buffalofan19
Hard to say that when they havent played this season. They do go on to make the playoffs, it will be easy for people like you, Roy haters to say "see I told you so". The Sabres remain the same or get worse and dont make the playoffs, it will be easy for people like me, pro-Roy to say "see I told you so". |

What do Sabres fans think of this deal? To me it looks like your top two centers are going to be Grigs and Hodgson....
Are you guys happy with it? I know Roy had a down year, but trading him for Steve Ott? |

Bottom line is, with Roy as the "kingpin", they've made the playoffs twice in 5 years, one of them he had absolutely nothing to do with except for the formality of a game 7 that was never in doubt. This year, when they made a run and fell short, Ennis' line did most of the heavy lifting, and Hodgson started to get more and more responsibility and Roy less and less. That's when they started to improve. |

Roy is no longer a Sabre. Buffalo already won this trade. |

I dont think roy was the problem, I dont think roy is the solution
IMO I watched a lot of effort by Roy where the wingers were nowhere to be seen
Kinda like when max was buried on the 4th line and skating one on 4 with the other 4 sabres on the other side of the red line
If I had to put vanek and roy under the microscope, vanek is the player that holds them down more, esp given its a cap era

The consensus here is that Steve Ott is such a physical imposing player that they are going to win the Stanley Cup via forfeits. We have become a mean and nasty team to play against. John Scott, Kaleta, McCormick, Steve Ott.... (frank)in old time hockey.
And Vanek is going to score like 65 goals this year because Roy was his problem and now that the cancer has been removed from the team, Vanek will win league MVP. |

Different mindset. Out with negative intangiables, in with positive ones. You'll see. 6 times next season. |

When players go off the record saying "we're going to go on a run now" and then make good on it, when the news comes out that he's done for the year, he's much closer to the problem than the solution. |

ott brings what the team is lacking
ennis will also be a top line center
the team is better moving forward if coho takes the next step and the wingers produce |

Miro Satan was the Sabres leading scorer at one point (I think).
Players on the team went to Ruff and Regeir and said to get him off the team. And look what happened. Addition by subtraction.
I am going to believe that Ruff and Regeir knew what they were doing here today... |

Problem is, the stuff we can't see or didn't see with Roy is what made him expendable and a cancer. |

It goes way beyond "just a down year" with Roy. He isn't liked around town, he parties like crazy and has even been seen out around town on night's that they've lost badly. Management and coaching have gotten sick of him and even his teammates can't stand him.
It's all part of Regier's effort to get bigger, meaner and tougher to play against. |
