I'm late to the party but I absolutely love this trade. Thank god that bum Roy is outta here. I haven't followed much of the news but are we now out of the Ryan sweepstakes? I hope Darcy has another trade or signing working. - mhp
It's Roy's fault that Vanek is lazy.... I read that here.

Powerslave, the guy who took my bait hook line and sinker is now completely butt hurt that you fell for my shenanigans.
If youre not going to follow the discussion, you can certainly stay in left field picking daisies.
Was Roy a cancer when he played on Vanek's line when he was putting up 40 goals? When Hodgson got put between Vanek and Pommer and Vanek still couldnt produce, was that Roy's fault?
You guys can blame Roy all you want. Makes no difference to me. Thats your opinion. But if youre going to make claims that "Vanek is our most productive player" and "he has been doing it for a while" at least make sure you have your facts straight. - theblueandgold
I havent typed the word "Vanek" all night. So, no, YOU'RE the one not following the convo.
You're enamored with offense. I want players that will show up and play hard, and go through a brick wall to win. Roy is not that player. |

What happened two years ago when he was a ppg player, but Buffalo was out of the playoff picture. He gets injured, and as the story goes guys on the team said "watch us go now", and then they fought their way into the playoffs?

Garth posted the link to Darcy's presser about the Ott trade, everyone should go listen if they haven't I've never heard Darcy so honest EVER. Listen closely about Ennis, Ott, Pardy and making a bigger move. |

Do you realy think Roy's absense is the sole reason for our surge 2 years ago?? If I remember correctly Vanek was awful the first 2 months of that season until his twins were born. |

It's not a bad hockey deal, but you guys definitely could have gotten more.
I'm a religious Stars fan. Ott's a good player but he's been over-rated big time ever since his name got thrown around at the trade deadline. After reading some of these comments, I can see it's only gotten worse.
Perfect third line center for any contending team. Nothing else. Dont expect tons of offense either because he's not even the least bit consistent in that regard. |

Remember last season, when the team sucked, Roy wasnt out with an injury, and after the TDD someone said "watch us go now" and the team went on a 16-5-4 run and fell like 2 points shy of the playoffs.
They did the SAME thing TWO years IN A ROW. What they did the year before had nothing to do with Roy being injured. Much like last year what they did had noting to do with Roy being in the lineup. Go ahead and keep trying to make that argument.
Vanek was our "best player" that year statistically because Roy was injured. He was on pace for 82 points. |

Ill take Ott over a 2nd round pick. Which is what I thought we would get for Roy |

Because he wasnt on pace to have 70+ points the year he got injured? Because for the 3 seasons prior to that he put up 70 points? Because last year he only had 44 points when his doctor told him it would take 1.5-2 years to completely recover from his injury?
Hes going to put up points on any team he plays on. Change of scenery will do him better. Everyone thinks we won this deal because we got a guy that we all covet. Someone who is blue collar. A hard hitting 3rd line worker bee. But, Dallas will get the last laugh. - theblueandgold
Oh brother. Get over yourself. Dallas will enjoy Roy for a year, and then they will let him walk, after they see what he's made of.

Just clarifying since many keep bringing up the fact he hit 20 goals before. If he did that twice again before he retired I'd be shocked. |
