Vanek's propblem? What problem? He is our most productive player and has been for a while. What's the problem? - Homer
aside from some consistency struggles..... Vanek was never the problem....if im not mistaken he is something like 8th in the league in points since the lockout.... |

live with it? Its a great deal for us. - Homer
It is a great deal!...for a guy that everyone thought was going to pass through waivers to Rochester....we just got some sandpaper for this team and threw out the toilet paper. |

That team didnt underachieve, they overachieved. The "core" players were as big of a reason why we made a run in 05-06 and had success in 06-07. It wasnt ALL drury and briere. - theblueandgold

Since I'm too lazy to look it up, what's the difference between a NMC and a NTC? - mrpurple
Add this nhl.com article too. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=610085
A no-trade clause requires a player's consent before a trade involving that player is made. If a player has a no-movement clause, the player cannot be traded, waived, or sent down to the minors without that player's approval. In both cases, however, a player is not protected from being bought out by the player's current team. |

By no means did any of us expect the success they had in 05-06 |

Define has been for a while? Since we lost Drury and Briere.
07-08: 1. Roy, 2. Pommer 3. Vanek
08-09: 1. Roy 2. Pommer 3. Vanek
09-10: 1. Roy 2. Connolly 3. Pommer 4. Vanek
10-11: 1. Vanek 2. Stafford 3. Pommer (Roy #1 in PPG 35g 35pt)
11-12: 1. Pommer 2. Vanek 3. Stafford
Roy topped the list until he got injured. He wouldve stayed topping the list. A healthy Roy playing on the top line in Dallas with Benn and Loui... we're going to be crying that we only let him go for Ott. - theblueandgold
Wow. You really are clueless. Shouldn't you be talking to your "sources"???
Roy was a cancer. Everyone knows it (except you, obviously). Even without getting one of the best 3rd line (who can also play on the PP...check his stats) agitators in the league, this trade was addition by subtraction.

Try goals. Theres no way his seasons of 60 and 50 points put him close to 8th in the league.
Stamkos scores more goals than Vanek has points in a season. |

Maybe now that Roy is gone, you'll come back to earth and understand that Vanek's problem is not Roy and never was Roy. Its Vanek. - theblueandgold
I have to agree with this |

Thats the only thing I take from it is were moving on from a very stale period in Sabres history. |

I wonder if everyone will still feel this way if Roy gets 70 points this year. |

I will. I've never hated a hockey player as much as I hate Roy. |

Some players just need a change of scenery. If he gets 70 points in Dallas doesn't mean he would have here. |

Powerslave, the guy who took my bait hook line and sinker is now completely butt hurt that you fell for my shenanigans.
If youre not going to follow the discussion, you can certainly stay in left field picking daisies.
Was Roy a cancer when he played on Vanek's line when he was putting up 40 goals? When Hodgson got put between Vanek and Pommer and Vanek still couldnt produce, was that Roy's fault?
You guys can blame Roy all you want. Makes no difference to me. Thats your opinion. But if youre going to make claims that "Vanek is our most productive player" and "he has been doing it for a while" at least make sure you have your facts straight. |

We are better without Roy, but Vanek will still get injured and slump for 25 games a season. No reason to blame Roy for Vanek |

Roy is GONE!!!
Thank the heavens. Felt the same way after Tin man Connolly left finally.
Roy is a douche, of the major league variety. Dallas can have his 70 points. Players like Steve Ott show up when it counts, players like Roy DO NOT.

I'm late to the party but I absolutely love this trade. Thank god that bum Roy is outta here. I haven't followed much of the news but are we now out of the Ryan sweepstakes? I hope Darcy has another trade or signing working. |

Because he wasnt on pace to have 70+ points the year he got injured? Because for the 3 seasons prior to that he put up 70 points? Because last year he only had 44 points when his doctor told him it would take 1.5-2 years to completely recover from his injury?
Hes going to put up points on any team he plays on. Change of scenery will do him better. Everyone thinks we won this deal because we got a guy that we all covet. Someone who is blue collar. A hard hitting 3rd line worker bee. But, Dallas will get the last laugh. |

IMO we end up with Ryan, Nash, or Semin. Most likely Semin but with the additions of Scott and Ott, im fine with having Semin. Darcy loves Semin. |
