Maybe cause he was 24 or so? Came into NHL in 05-06. Lemaire left in 08-09. You know how reluctant Lemaire is to give responsibility to youngsters. - _Zippy_
That's possible, but he was their definitive #1 centre when he was there and was given the ice time like it by Lemaire |

I'm betting the farm Zach decides today and he decides Minnesota. He wouldn't go home to announce he wo t sign there unless he leaves on a flight to somewhere else, that would be a massive Richard move to announce in Minnesota that he won't sign there. Plus, the money is too much. Arnott/Meehan are the types of guys who'll chirp in his ear to take the biggest offer (Minnesota). That plus his family/friends chirping in his ear. Too much for the heart to overcome. In the end, Zach heads for the payday. |

I think he would have been good with the fourth line. Too bad we lost him, hope he does well in the khl |

If only he had the minimum of a scoring touch he could have been a pretty good player. Everything else seemed to be there. |

He got a raise, but definitely left money on the table to come back to NJ.
You know, where no one EVER wants to play. |

Hell yeah he left money. He could've easily bargained for Volchenkov like money. Once Suter was gone, teams would've overpaid the poop out of him. |

No he probably wasn't considering it prior to FA. As he has said multiple time, he wasn't lying when he said he wanted to return to NJ and was busy negotiating and thinking about returning. For god's sake man give him a day or two, it's the rest of his career he is dealing with. - bobert836
I said nothing about him taking his time, as he rightly should, but speculated that there has to be more to consider than just Minny and NJ. Don't let your desperation cloud your comprehension. |

Never going to spend that much cap. Devils have a cap in real dollars, so you can factor in Kovalchuk's 11.3 million salary as a cap hit. - _Zippy_
Well, this is where they stand right now assuming they overpay for Fayne and still have two FW positions to fill:

Not saying that would happen, I'm just saying all isn't lost in Parise leaves. There are options. I'd love Doan, but I doubt he'd come here after dealing with Phoenix and their ownership issues. Semin can replace Parise's production. Doan can replace the leadership. |
