Meh. Think the garrison signing was OK. According to Dreger, he's got a good work ethic, so even if he's not putting up points I think he'll do OK.
Could be a bad signing, but I think teams would take a risk on him in the future for $4.5 Mil. It's no Redden or Jaybo $6.5 Mil contract.
I'd like to see Doan. One year deal. Could fill in well for Kesler and Sedin, Kesler, Doan, Lappierre, would be a deadly centre lineup.
Suter for Edler+ would be an excellent swap for both teams.

Glendale council candidates call for delay in signing Phoenix Coyotes deal http://www.azcentral.com/...phoenix-coyotes-deal.html
This saga is longer than Avatar. I never realized how long and complicated losing money could be. - AlexF
The problem is, Glendale wants to get out, but if the Coyotes go then Glendale probably goes down with it because it's sucked so much taxpayer money into that arena. It's having enough problems trying to book dates beyond Coyote games that they could end up with an empty arena and no way to fill it. |

@Eklund. Sorry pal. Just talked to Dale Tallon and he says nothing has changed. Still talking with Van. Nothing imminent. High price.

He would be playing somewhere else then. - VANTEL
It had been reported several times that he wanted to play in Vancouver.
As it was, he took less money to go there. |

Predictable is more like it.
I just giggle everytime he makes some bold statement, particularly when it involves the Canucks. |

Yeah I think it's pretty clear that he has zero inside sources in the Canucks organization. |

Shane Doan is exactly what we need, I'm trying not to get my hopes up since I think the losers in the Parise/Suter sweepstakes will then go hard after him and potentially beat our offer. If MG can land him, then this team looks complete to me, you can always pick up a depth forward or d-man in the Lu trade or trade deadline to push us over the top. I'd be willing to overpay for Doan, just front load the contract for the first 2 years.

Not a surprise since MG likes to run a tight ship, but I think the insiders are usually getting their info from the other teams(TOR, FLA, etc.). |

Front loaded isn't really an advantage because Doan is already 35+ as per the "Mogilny" rule.
EDIT - what I mean to say is that if you front load the contract there is no incentive for a player to play out the contract but you are stuck with the cap hit, whereas if the $ are spread evenly there is more incentive not to retire. |

i agree doan is what you need.
Langkow is a cheap alternative for some grit at centre on 3rd line

Fair enough, I'd still be willing to go a third year. He'll be useful for the next 2 years and IMO still a useful third liner in year 3 and a great leader. Who knows, he might even retire if we actually win the cup. With most of "the core" in it's prime I think we should go for it. |

I like Langkow, but his faceoff percentage last year was horrible, I'd want someone better at faceoffs for that role. |

Love to sign Doan but reality says that once the other big fish are off the market the teams left at the alter will give him stupid $$ and term. |

I'd be willing to go as high as 3 years at 5mil per with a NTC. I know it's too much but that's probably what it will take for him to consider. He may not be worth that only scoring 20-25 goals but his leadership is also very valuable and he's the type of player you win cups with. |

thats pretty much what I was thinking.
I do think VCR, EDM, CGY may have a strong chance for him.
EDM I could see really making a push for him, but I almost think JAGR would fit in better there. |

Doaner is a winner with BC roots. You're going to have to overpay a bit, but as others have stated, he has the characteristics that this teams missing to win the Cup. I think 3 years @ $5 mill is right on point Not a bad 'sunset' contract for Doan |

I think he wants a cup, out of those 3 teams it's a no-brainier. By the the time EDM is a cup contender he'll be retired. |
