Did either of those guys ever clear bodies from in front of the net?

Komi becomes better when paired with a PMD. He has the 2nd best turnover pass in the league.

Kings-willie mitchell, matt greene, rob scuderi......3 of the top four can barely skate-but they played smart hockey.
hence why many leaf fans were pissed about losing schenn.

They had Quick, and the whole team played smart hockey: with that relentless forecheck, they spent less time in their own end than the opposition and that's the best D any coach can ask for.

I'm not saying our top 6 D are perfect, far from it, but I'd rather err on the side of heady/vision/mobility guys (usually the guys with offensive abilities as a result of it) than slow-footed stay-at-home "physical" guys who're only able to dish out any sort of physicality when they're hemmed into their own zone, usually because of a dumb obstruction penalty they took because they're so slow.

Thanks for the feedback. It's not perfect, and I tried to include something of worth (bozak is currently our top centre, and holzer is the real deal). It really depends on how you look at it--is Luongo an elite goaltender with his best years ahead of him? Or is he a faceless 10-year contract that may-or-may-not have what it takes to get you into the playoffs let alone a cup one day.

I hear a lot of fans suggesting a multi-player deal including Raymond or something. Theres so many intangibles its really hard to pinpoint what it would take.

Btw, I stayed clear of picks, because I felt Vancouver wouldn't want them seeing as how they're so close to the cup.

Thanks, bud.

Once again I appreciate the effort you put in my friend.. truly shows your passion.. how you thought deep and hard about what you valued and what would be good worth.

Are you guys happy with the fact that Komarov seems to most likely be a full time Leaf next season? Not really sure what to think about this. We need to get bigger/tougher. He is an agitator but is pretty small, not sure this is exactly what we need.

Komi's at his best when wearing a different kind of jersey:

He's a rat, something Burke said he wants out of the league. Just add it to the growing list of lies.

Was just told Florida is OUT on Luongo. They had interest but grew tired of the Canucks demands and are moving on. (e4)

I agree that Burke has contradicted himself, several times. But in this case, wasn't he saying that "rats were taking over the game"? I don't think he ever said he wouldn't have one. He said the game is changing, he doesn't like the way its going but he is adjusting accordingly.

this is a direct result a quick transition, simple plays in a simple system.
you need a combination...right now the leafs might be 'mobile' but are nowhere near 'smart'.
They have far too much riverboat gambling and nowhere near enough punishing and tough.

i just want a forward willing to forecheck like a demon regardless of size....damn I miss seeing tucker fly into the corners with reckless abandon.

Burke gambles way to much.
- Leafland

Although I was a big fan of the truculent speech.. reality is we are softer.. than ever.. and with the trade deadline.. draft.. and FAF now upon us and the message is of internal growth.. it is quite upsetting.. becausse the results so far are very little to no change.. not in draft.. not in trades.. not in anything.. the word is the price is too high.. so that is where I disagree with you.. Burke is playing it safe when he should take a calculated risk.. and is Gambling when he should be sitting.. we should have built up picks when he started years ago and patience would've got us maybe some of Edmonton's picks.. now that we get nothing from the drafts.. he wants to be patient.

I truly have to question his ability as a manager at this point.

If he is in the lineup he better be a demon. I don't want another Rikard Wallin situation where a team feels pressured to have a player in the lineup.
