Biggs sounds like a bit of a beast for junior... He should have a great year amongst the smaller kids... London Knights eh? That would be swell... - SofaKingBored
If he can develop a more offensive game, we might have a player on our hands. |

#Leaf prospect Leo Komarov speaks for languages: Swedish, English, Russian and Finnish.
That quadrilingual mofo. - jbold
Does that upgrade his status by one line on some teams? |

This is his site, I know people want to take shots at him but part of being a ref is to watch out for that. - LeafMan
The man keeps a site going for all of us to chat about Leaf and NHL rumours. To voice our opinions on our team's position. He attempts to gain knowledge of trades thru friendships he's made with the players, management and other media in the NHL that have a distinctive leg up on him.
He tries to uphold his end of the bargain of rumours while also providing you with what you demand. I imagine it takes a great deal of time for which his family life probably suffers for.
Thanks for the site Ek. Nice try on the rumours and trying to get honest answers from the closed knit boys club that is the NHL. Not everyone disrespects what you do, but some of the stuff is pretty funny. Have fun with it like they do with you when they feed you this crap. Know it must be hard some days when you're busting your butt to find out someone has misled you and everyone pokes fun. |

“Randy was pretty excited by this,” GM Burke said Sunday night of the new coach’s handle on McClement from Western Conference duels with the Ducks. “Randy had a lot of input into all the guys we considered today.”
Wonder who else Carlyle recommended. |

That defense is not bad.....they need a dependable system and properly managed minutes. Carlyle can give them that. They just need to execute it. - Phenom
Sorry this is the one area I will disagree with you on..
Gunnar is the best two way they have.. but on a good team he would be a 5 or 6..
Phaneuf is good offensivey but is liable in his own end..
Liles is a career minus.. say no more..
Gardiner is going to be a great quarterback.. and I am pretty high on him but he is not good in his own end.. although with Carlyle that could change.. Carlyle's system is also probably a major reason Shultz went to Edmonton..
Franson is a big boy who uses none of his size and is really bad in his own zone.. although if you survive his minus end.. he has a decent shot.. worth 7 to 9 goals a season.
Komi has no support and gets caught out a lot.. uses his body but gets beat with his feet.. last season was probably his best for the Leafs.
Holzer I hope will be a good Dman but currently he is still AHL.. Blacker I like .. but again offensive.
Too many Dmen on this team think they are offensive.. things will change this year under Carlyle.. the offensive numbers will go down.. but not sure if most are capable of playing in their own end.. so it looks like a losing season on D unless they change a good chunk of their squad.. IMO

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Not sure who's reporting...maybe @Eklund , but Brian Burke couldn't be more emphatic in saying Toronto is NOT in on Nash. As you were...
Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
@Eklund. I wasn't trying to do anything more than kill a rumor. Leafs aren't in every deal even tho the rumor mills churns them out daily.
and that my friend just about sums up the rumors on this website |

I'm not crapping on Kessel. I'm stating facts that are obvious to everyone who actually watches hockey.
Kessel is NOT better than Parise. This is a universal fact. That is not the same as saying Kessel sucks.
Parise is a very elite winger in this league. If he hadn't broken his leg last season, He'd have more goals scored than Kessel over the last 5 seasons.
Period.
Kessel's BEST asset is goal scoring, and Parise is better at it than him. Parise is also good defensively.
Kessel managed to not be as big a liability defensively last season, but he is not where near someone you can call "good" defensively.
I like Kessel. He's an elite sniper. Parise is a better player, and his play proves it.
Period. It is shocking to think there is even debate here.
Again, I am not saying Kessel sucks, by any means. But he is not better than Parise. - Big_Lightnin
I wasn't presuming what you were saying. I won't say who is a better player as that is a matter of opinion. I was only stating that we have elite level player that we should value not cut down every opportunity. I have no problem with players that give close to everything they have, only ones that could care less about how lucky they are to have the opportunity.
I hated the way Sundin was run out of town, as well as some other's that have bled and sweated for the club. I think Kessel is a team guy that lacks media savy. Who cares how he interviews. Write positive stuff about his one ice performance. Guy was a beast the first half of last year. (numbers may suffer this year a bit in defense first system)

The one asset that we have an abundance of is mobility and I truly think mobility is king in the current state of the NHL. We went the rugged, stay-at-home route and it didn't really work out for us. I'll take a mobile defensive group over a tough, flat-footed group any day. Mobile guys can carry the puck out of danger themselves, guys with vision and "offensive" ability can keep the play in the other end, and that's the best defense IMO.

Agreed..
also to a minor extent Kaberle who was always a team guy till the end even when he took a trade... he gave hometown discounts.. scored points for us regularly.. and until Burke's rebuild was a plus player.. than was ostracized by the club.. branded part of the Muskoka 5 of lazies holding the club back.. and ridiculed by fans.. for accepting a trade that helped the Leafs unlike Sundin who was well within his rights.. to do so.. he is still mocked.. when on the other hand we gave up a high second rounder in a deep draft for Kaberle light.. Liles is a career minus something Kaberle is not.. and is softer in his own end that Kaberle.. and Burke signs him to a longterm deal.

a valid point but no one on the leafs D maybe aside from pha9 and komi are going to clear bodies out from in front of the net. |
