In two years the cap hit would only be 1.6 mil, and the cap will probably be 80 mil..
IMO thats not too bad

- KovyFan27

Gomez + Kaberle would be over 3M.

Wait for the CBA to be signed. No hurry to get rid of those contracts.

Yet the cap would be 4,5 this year and 3,5 next year ( or other way around).

Habs have the money. Trade, wave or bury him this season. Buyout the next one.

The fact that he is even going to do this pissing match with someone like Ek is all loss for him.
- eihcnerf

Dale Tallon would never keep anything from Dreger, he only speaks the complete truth.

Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund

@DarrenDreger lol…ok…I heard otherwise. we'll see I guess. I also added a tweet minutes after the first saying things can always change.

I would not call it a pissing match so much as Dregs likely gets 100s of tweets and contacts each time one of these stupid rumours pops up and he is just shutting it down as efficiently as possible.

They should give him a chance to retire. Like... force him to.

Or play in the KHL or Europe. Like they did with that poop swiss goalie. Whose name i still cant bring myself to bother remember.

Ok but what does Dreger win here? If he is correct he wins, Ek gets in the news and made fun of, but gets free publicity either way. If he loses, it's on, and it's all win Ek. Dreger has nothing to win here, in fact it's all lose/lose. The fact that he is even messing with a roomer mill generator, in some way gives more credibility to the masked man to some.

More like silly enough to challenge a guy with endless contacts. Including at the sources.

I disagree, cause the players are not losing this round, and they going down without a fight, and watching the owners try and break their own rules contract after contract, well that kinda looks in their favor especially with the fans. This pie is much bigger then that last pie they split, the TV deals and whatnot. Best to dump him now while you know there is an amnesty clause a la Redden, if you wait for the CBA this could change and then you are stuck with him.

Yeah but you bury him in the minors, you don't buy him out.

Correct. And normally teams would be poop on for it, this time he was given many opportunities to play better. Too many.

Put Kaberle on the trade market, has to be at least one team that could use an overpaid soft dman, has to be.

I dont care how they do it but they both need to go, and with the salary cap going up this much every year Salary is not a huge problem. Even if they did buy him out, they save $3,833,333 this year and $2,833,333 next year against the cap then lose $1,666,667 for two years after, and by then at the current rate the salary cap will be around 80+ mil

Better options IMO.

Buyout is the last possible option.

With the amount of "prospects" that are supposed to be playing in Hamilton for the next few seasons, do we really want 7.3 around them? That is my only concern.

These numbers are wrong. Might explain why you can't see why a boyout is not an option.. or the last option.

The way Bergevin is building this team, there's now ay Gomez plays in the Bottom 6.
If you look at the top 6.. .well there's no room for Gomez.

He's not playing for the Habs this year.
