I agree. The Flyers are still in the mix. You don't throw out big time offers an just get pushed to the side. These two players have to consider playing here.

we will find out oon for sure. anything can happen, never count out the flyers

It's hard to believe the flyers r out because if they were they woulda have made a move by now do I'm sorry I don't buy it
- griouxmvp2012

Well, they might be out and not know it. It's possible that the Parise or Suter camps haven't told them "Thanks, but no thanks" yet.

Also, it's real possible that the other targets are waiting to see what Parise and Suter get. Look at Carle. If he waits for Suter to sign, he's suddenly the top UFA defenseman. Maybe a Suter loser will throw an asinine number at him.

He's one of the few guys I'd pay a lot for, but even then, I hesitate.

I'm perfectly content with letting this team grow together.

Someone will offer Carle 6 and it makes me sick.

Flyers should walk away from Carle for over $5 million. Their top 6 is fine as long as they improve the 3rd and 4th line D.

Huh? Do you mean getting more defensive forwards on the third and fourth lines? Or do you mean 3rd & 4th(?) pairs of defensemen?

Just asking for clarification here...

Once Suter and Parise sign elsewhere, Flyers will have Bobby Ryan and Matt Carle within the next hour.

Take it to the bank.

There is already an agreed upon deal in place for Bobby Ryan if the Flyers lose out on Parise/Suter.

Sorry. I think the Flyers need a better two way 3rd line forward and need to upgrade the 4th line. Also if they can upgrade the blue line then have at it. Scoring isn't the problem.

Ok, thanks.

And you're right, scoring wasn't - and shouldn't be - the problem.

I think the idea behind adding a scoring line winger is two fold.

One, it gives Giroux a consistent, proven sniper and raises his game. Two it allows the Flyers to deal a forward during the season, when they could have more flexibility with the cap to add a defenseman.

would be nice.. build that chemistry/cohesiveness... that familiarity with lava's system - even if its not a perfect one - would at least allow it to be executed with precision, confidence
i do like this young core alot

And when Laviolette gets fired in December, Murray can come in and mold them into a defensive juggernaut

I don't necessarily think that's the case. However, if the team is struggling around January and still having big issues with team defense, Murray is a logical candidate....and we know the Flyers like to blame the coach

because they are willing to take partial value for their assets. imagine if they were able to develop their own dmen and have some ELCs back there. btw, DET has how many cups the last 15 yrs or so?
- isaiah520

The Flyers had 2 players on ELC's on the backend last year, and are still with the team. And showed that they have potential as NHL players. Detroit didn't sign any key Free Agents for those teams that won Cups?

The last Cup the Red Wings won, they played 7 defenseman in the playoff games. 2 out of those 7 players were drafted and developed by the Red Wings.

Am I missing something here or would an offer sheet not be a long term contract that would prevent him from testing the market?

And who cares about a good trading partner, we would have Shea Weber for the next decade plus.

- Flyers2821

If Weber wants out of Nashville, why would he sign an Offer Sheet? He might as well just re-sign with Nashville.
