I completely agree, but the flyers missed out on some potential free agent signings that would have helped the team a good amount because they are waiting for some decisions.

Everything happens for a reason. The Flyers are going to be a very good team regardless. Homer will do whatever it takes to make his club better. Eddies pockets are deep and the Flyers can't get disappointed bc they missed out on this years top prizes in Suter and Parise (if they don't sign here).

Just curious, who you think we missed out on? Some guys I liked are gone but with these prices I honestly dont too feel bad about missing out. I agree with your point tho. The Wild are the team that are getting hurt the most waiting in my opinion.

These players may not be as ideal as Ryan or potential trade options (dont want to say nash cause he is not ideal) however they would not cost any roster players.
I would have liked to see the flyers make a play for PA Rome Konopka Boyes. Just some role players. Of course I would have like Whitney Garrison Gaustad and more but these guys got overpaid bigtime

A set format where a players salary each Season is whatever the total is divided by the number of years. Interesting

Dreger/TSN have not said the Flyers are out, so I'll believe it when I see it. Eklund was dead wrong about nearly everything today.

I don't think we'll get Parise or Suter, but I do expect Homer to be aggressive on the trade front following these signings.

We need players that can help close the gap this team has with team defense.

Parise helps us to do that for sure.

Theres a rumored Ana-buf-clb 3 way deal. Anyone else hear this? Being floated in buff threads. Players involved are Ryan Nash. Possibly tymy
- Just5

Would Nash even waive to go to Buffalo?

He has like a 3 team list at this point- NYR, SJ, and DET.

Right now there isn't a clear cut favorite. The offers are heavy and that's why it's take so long. The players have to weight the option on where they would like to spend the rest of their career.

If the Flyers have indeed offered more than anyone for Parise, then I'm sure we're in the running.

-More money
-Come play next Claude
-Great young nucleus

Philly right now should be an enticing destination for him.

We'll see I guess. I won't get my hopes up though.

Even with the orange and black sunglasses off Philly does make a ton of sense for either Parise or Suter. Great points.

The Flyers chance to land either player is as good as every other team still in consideration.

I think that, if there's no decision by Suter & Parise by tomorrow, the Flyers should simply pull the offers and concentrate on lesser players for much shorter terms.

I am OK with Leighton. He's a solid goalie, and the price is cheaper than comparable back-ups.

I'd be OK if they added one of Parise or Suter, but the terms are scary.

Once Suter and Parise sign elsewhere, Flyers will have Bobby Ryan and Matt Carle within the next hour.

Take it to the bank.

There is already an agreed upon deal in place for Bobby Ryan if the Flyers lose out on Parise/Suter.

Problem is, if they pul the offer that allows Pitt to lower their offer and in turn get him for cheaper. Not saying that WOULD happen, but it is absolutely a possibility.

Let's say the Flyers miss out on Parise and Suter is their any possibility they go after Weber (offer sheet)? Take all that money and force Nashville to match. Any chance of that happening?

Not enamored with Carle or Ryan at thier cost or projected cost. I seriously think the jump Simmons made last year will be followed up by a jump in Voracek, Wellwood and Couturier(sp). We need a rock solid two way 3rd line guy, an upgrade to the 4th line with couturier moving up to the 3rd line and a high quality blue line guy.

How could you not be enamored with Bobby Ryan at 5.1 mill?

What's the parameters of the offer sheet?

Because even the teams that are said to have great scouting, and who some want the Flyers to emulate, like the Detroit Red Wings, aren't bidding on any high priced Free Agents such as Parise and Suter.
If the Flyers are in a Cap fix, how are they able to get involved in bidding for the top players available?

- MJL

because they are willing to take partial value for their assets. imagine if they were able to develop their own dmen and have some ELCs back there. btw, DET has how many cups the last 15 yrs or so?

Why bother? With the way this is going Weber is basically ensured to test the market. And offer sheeting a Nashville player would ruin our relationship with a good trading partner.

Am I missing something here or would an offer sheet not be a long term contract that would prevent him from testing the market?

And who cares about a good trading partner, we would have Shea Weber for the next decade plus.
