I was wondering if Kimmo is maybe worse off than thought (or is simply actually considering retirement), and that the Flyers know he may be thinking about going. Otherwise, it really is hard to imagine how both these guys could fit with the team.

Surely Bryzgalov and Leighton will significantly outplay two old men right? RIGHT?

Well Ek has the edge in anonymity but Dreger has the edge in reliability and trustworthiness. So pretty much a toss up.

Just a thought... I wonder if Homer has something up his sleeve... What if the Flyers sign both these guys - which is pretty much unfathomable. However, if Timmo retires (he is in the last year of his contract - payment to Timmo is much reduced from previous years) - it would make a lot more sense. The Flyers would have $22M room under the cap (less Shelley/Timmo/Pronger). If Suter/Parise were $8M each, they would still have +$6M in breathing room to sign RFA.

Devils have Brodeur and Hedberg signed for two more years. A 40 year old goaltending duo.

Surely Bryzgalov and Leighton will significantly outplay two old men right? RIGHT?

Absolutely not. The Flyers are screwed. The Season is already over as far as I'm concerned. Holmgren blew it!

Kimmo's retiring?
- flyersfan51

Who knows... He could? I was just speculating, trying to make sense out of Homer going after both guys.

Timmo
a) Made tons of cash with Phily, his Salary drops from $5M to $3M after making a lot more in the earlier years of the contract.

b) He had surgery this past off season. The ache's and pain's have got to be adding up. He has been a good solider, but the end may be nigh...

c) I wouldn't be surprise if Homer and Timmo had a hand shake agreement. (Similar thing happened to Cote, they needed cash and Riley retired to take a job with the organization - Timmo the new Finish scout?)

Crazy hearing today of 100M+ being thrown around by #NHL teams in last ditch Parise/Suter effort. Shows how desperate teams are 2 get better

Nope, not me. I promised the refs I would be quiet today as I am near banned territory. I'm already sick of the waiting and the repeat posts - no need to create another handle to read the same garbage.
