My guess is because Carle is saving himself as the consolation prize, not signing till Suter goes and his value is maximized. So why not be in the hunt when the player you would sign anyway is also waiting til it's over? At least drive up the price so the winner also loses. After all, because of the cap we are going to lose on the Carle deal anyway. Either we lose him or overpay.

I'm also pretty sure Homer did not think that this process would take this long.

At this rate I would rather the Flyers trade picks for current players than to overpay for anyone on the free agent market. The price on these players is just crazy.

so the flyers offered the most cash to suter and parise, hope they both sign here so we can trade coby+mezy+jake+read to nashville for weber.

The good: It's extremely rare to have the opportunity to see one of the best defensemen in all of hockey patrolling your team's blueline, so Suter was pretty lucky to get to watch Shea Weber all those years."

Can anyone here imagine a 37, 38, 39 (age at last three years of deal)year old Suter STILL taking up 8.333 million in cap space? Ye Gods!

Simple.

At that time just trade him to a team having trouble making the cap floor.

Homer doesnt have the skills of Andy Reid. The Eagles would of nabbed one of the best available players on the market by now.

flyers really should drop out of this.....if BUFF aquires Ryan while waiting on Suter and Parise, fans (including me) will go crazy.

Let's change this up a bit.

Would you guys trade Jake, Laughton, and a pick for Ryan?

I'd pull the offers as well. I think it's clear neither player is coming here. Re-sign Carle and get Bobby Ryan and call it an off-season. I'm good to go.

I agree -- kinda annoying nothing announced yet. Don't you think both players already know?

IF its true that they want to play together and come as a package deal then I believe both will be in either Detroit or Minnesota.

What do you mean? Even if they don't get either of the two they still don't have any cap space

Honestly I understand that these gents are making a tough decision of where to play for the next decade. However don't you think they would have an idea before July 1rst teams that they would play for. Cmon this is getting ridiculous

It seems to me that because they have these offers sitting out there they really cant do anything else.

Rescind the effing things and go out and fill the holes. Time to get out of the jewelry aisle and head on over to home improvements.
