The scary thing is. If Suter isn't signed, do you want Carle at 5-6 million for 4 years?

Thats horrific.

If you can have Suter for 7, Id go for the upgrade. There are times when a guy like Coburn or Mez have outplayed Carle for long stretches. I do not want to pay Carle crazy money.

- flyer_nutter

Im only going by the reported 12 years 100 million offer that is said to be out there. I would rather have Carle at 6 million for 4 years than Suter for 8.3333 for 12 years.

Suter is NOT worth that....NO MATTER WHAT. He is not that good. Not even close. In fact, in my opinion it is less ridiculous to pay Carle 6 than it would be to pay Suter 8.3.

Good point Bill.

However to me, the Pittsburgh series was so open. When it got down to a team like Jersey, and Jagr has less room to work with he struggled.

I think a guy like Carcillo could have put up good numbers if he played with Giroux against Pittsburgh.

Jagr scares me, because they lock up 3 million in a guy that could be spent upgrading the D instead, or add a guy who is solid defensively and a physical presence to the forwards.

Nutter,

Are you hearing anything in general about Evander Kane? On the block, not being traded? Just curious.

Was watching that TSN video on Eric Lindros the other week and Neil Smith (who was then the GM of the Rangers) was on and talking about the Lindros draft and subsequent trade to the Flyers.

He said that the Rangers "had" to be in on every major free agent. Whether or not they signed them, for the market and the fans, they had to at least be involved.

Kinda think that's where the Flyers are at with Suter and Parise. They don't need them. Likely won't sign them. But they have to be a player in the game.

Suter definately is not.

I do not go over 7 for suter, and over 5 for Carle.

If they want more, go play for someone else.

I hope it is to just drive up the price for another team. Other than that, the fact that there are even reports out there that the Flyers have 12 year 100 million offers on the table for Suter and Parise is making me almost homicidal.

Thats a calculated risk by trying to drive up the price b/c the Flyers are taking a chance of one or both accepting that deal.

so the flyers offered the most cash to suter and parise, hope they both sign here so we can trade coby+mezy+jake+read to nashville for weber.

Im fine with that. Though I may go to 5.5 for Carle. Suter at 8.3 is just astonishing. What is even more astonishing is that anyone would actually like it and want it to happen. Can anyone here imagine a 37, 38, 39 (age at last three years of deal)year old Suter STILL taking up 8.333 million in cap space? Ye Gods!

I do think they really want both players, I hope both players don't agree to those figures. However, with those crazy offers surely has made other bidders adjust their offers. For some reason, I really don't mind Parise with the Pens, I still think the Flyers match up very well. The young kids will continue to gain experience, which in turn will result in improved play. I fully expect Schenn and Coots to not be much below Parise in ability by the end of the season. Of course, with a lot less of a cap hit. Call me crazy.

By the time that contract ends guys like Bourdon and Gust may be making 7M a year (joke). Short term the cap hit sucks, no doubt. Long-term it could be a nice hit. I'm not sure what the hell the Flyers are trying to do at this point. Ill sit back and wait for these two jabroni's to announce where their going.

My guess is because Carle is saving himself as the consolation prize, not signing till Suter goes and his value is maximized. So why not be in the hunt when the player you would sign anyway is also waiting til it's over? At least drive up the price so the winner also loses. After all, because of the cap we are going to lose on the Carle deal anyway. Either we lose him or overpay.

I'm also pretty sure Homer did not think that this process would take this long.
