boulton will not play every night and he is a fourth line player...take out pandolofo and put in boulton..he's not taking ice time from a kid
- NYI78

Pandolfo took a LOT of time away from a kid. He played a ton of games last year.

I don't understand the thought process of a 3rd pairing d-man. Isn't that Carkner? You have 5 guys signed now.. who is top pairing? I would rather leave the 2 spots for Kids to make team than another bum.

Same with Forwards... stop with the "quality vets" (washed up bums).. get ONE top tier guy (via trade or UFA)... let the kids fill the rest.

- niteislander

carkner is not a bum..he can play a regular shift...letting two rookies dmen to start is a recipe for diaster...let the kids fight it out for one spot..for once i agree with kasper...we do something and people are still unhappy. boyes has a solid resume..two years ago he had 58 points i'd sign up for that. carkenr and boulton address toughness.. this isn't the finished product. so far i'm good with this

The people complaining are the ones who really thought the Isles would go after Parise & Suter

Our kids are now old enough to be vets... and the other kids have done their time correctly in Juniors, AHL, etc. I would rather see Ullstrom, Casey, Kabanov, get a shot... than a Pando, Boulton, Boyes.
- niteislander

kabonov and cizikas are not ready...you'll see ulstrom he will be on the third line...let these kids earn their time up here

Since I just got home from a long Sunday Funday on Fire Island, quick thoughts.

-Losing PA at that price was dumb. May be a slight over-payment, but at least we knew we had him. 4 years isn't an absurd term either.

-Haley? Who gives a sh!t, guys like him are dime-a-dozen. Liked him but I'm sure I'll like the next guy that earns his paycheck by sticking up for teammates and punching people in the face.

-Not sure how I feel about letting Reese walk, he had some value as a bottom pairing guy. To me that says they feel Donovan or deHaan are going to be ready for a full-time role this year.

-Whining about signing McDonald and DeFazio is dumb, they were depth signings for Bridgeport and nothing more. Taking care of business in the minors is a need to, doesn't mean a thing about the big club.

Can someone please explain this wolf pack?

And on Boyes: he scored 43 goals in a season... You have to have some talent to do that. Boyes is a sniper, as seen in the shoot out where he shoots rather than dekes which he has success with. As of now JT is more of an elite passer and slightly above average shooter. I like the Boyes signing and if he plays on JT wing I may be willing to bet he scores 30 goals

- Danformo

If Boyes does score 30 goals, next year he'll be asking for 4 years/$16 million...

Everybody crying about Haley going to the Rangers needs to get a grip. They already have Asham, Bickell & Rupp. Haley will be playing in the AHL for about 95% of the regular season. Enough already

why wouldnt Boyes be a possible Replacement for PA.

PA is 29 years old. Boyes is 30. PA was an AHL player his whole career before he joined isles.

How many times did PA score 40 goals in his career.

Boyes at 1mm is very low risk. guy has change to revive his career. We all now JT makes everyone better around him.

hey just curious, How do you think Duchene feels that PA makes more money than him. thats just embarassing.

- Spartiarti

WE never agree on anything but I totally agree with you as I feel Boyes will be just fine

I like the Boyes signing, I just don't like assuming he is going to put up 70 points. If he does it's a bonus. There is a reason he was signed for a million. We are taking a chance on him which I'm fine with. Taking a chance is fine but you have to hedge your bet.

I don't mind the Carkner signing.. he fights. I just don't want that and Vis to be our big Defense additions.

Past results (particularly when "past" means before our rebuild even started, back when Mike Comrie was our number one center) does not guarantee future success. Jonathan Cheechoo had one season over 40 goals too, 56 in fact, declined at about an identical rate to Boyes, and never got it back together despite still being in his prime years when he started declining and getting a change of scenery in Ottawa. It happens.

It's an upgrade over Staios and Mottau or Eaton for that matter. I would love an additional top four. Would give us a solid defense.

What has Haley done? The only thing I recall is that one game where he knocked out a couple of Penguins and scored a couple of goals that game. Besides that he did nothing. He did not deserve a one way contract

no your right..but my theory is JT is an A+ passer and boyes has an electric shot...i think that has potential to be a very good combo

I don't think he was given a chance and thought he was effective when he played. Just my personal opinion. Think he may have had more to offer.
