Ocean Beach, yes. Those two areas are a lot more fun when you're in your 20s and you're without kids. Kismet or Saltaire is a lot nicer if you're a little older and still want to have fun.

Trust me, as a guy who loves Fire Island and Montauk, if you're looking for a family type atmosphere where you could still have fun, or dissappear for a week if you wanted to, I'd stick to Montauk.

I go out to Montauk a few times a year. I think that's what we are going to wind up doing. No stress, airport, etc... Just a hour and a half drive and chillax for a few days. Plus I haven't been to Harvest on the Pond yet this year. Love that place. One of the best restaurants on Long Island if you ask me

I'm going the week of the 23rd. We're going to Harvest and the Surf Lodge while we're there.
We rent a cottage for a week, bring our daughter and our Shepherd. We have access to a semi-private beach and we have a BBQ. I stop at Bellport Beverage on the way out to pick up some tasty 6-packs, and we stop at Duck Walk Vineyards in Southhampton for the ol' lady.
Then do a whole lot of nothing....although I do love to run up Montauk Hwy., the hills, killer workout.

That was good. Long Island is beautiful, especially in the summer time. Expensive as hell but beautiful none the less. Always find it funny when people that have never been here(on Hockeybuzz) knock it.

He's right, most definitely the best part of living here.

Honestly, I work in Manhattan, I don't know why anyone in their right mind goes to the concrete jungle when the weather's like this.

Always my stops while I'm out there. I'll be there the week before. Probably stay in the harbor(maybe culloden house?) so I can hang with my fishing buddies. Book three nights and play it by ear. Whenever I go out there I usually extend my stay by two or three days

I lived in Manhattan for six years. I loved it but I'm readjusted to LI. A lot of my family still lives in the city but I'm never moving back.

I'll get around to going there. Probably over the winter when I'm looking for something warm. Heard nothing but great things.
