I dont think there is a cap floor yet!

That's right.... Wonder how this is going to turn out? Which way is Snow going to go and what kind of leash did Wang put on him?

I have not re-upped on my Season tickets yet this year. I get a call a week. My comment this morning was... "If that was it... if the Isles are done. So am I."
- niteislander

I don't understand the thought process of a 3rd pairing d-man. Isn't that Carkner? You have 5 guys signed now.. who is top pairing? I would rather leave the 2 spots for Kids to make team than another bum.

Same with Forwards... stop with the "quality vets" (washed up bums).. get ONE top tier guy (via trade or UFA)... let the kids fill the rest.

- niteislander

Again, Carkner is going to spend A LOT of time in the box....which means he's not going to play every night; you can't do that to your d-men. He's a guy who is perfect for the Rag$, Flyers, Bruins, etc., games. He's not really necessary against a Western opponent; he'll just end up costing us three shorthanded situations every night. I'd love to see them bring in another good defenseman, but I also think some of these kids need a shot sooner rather than later. That said, he's still better than who he is replacing, as I said before. At least he fills a role, as opposed to the "beating heart with the letter D on his hockey card" type who they usually sign.

That said- we are not going to get a "top tier" player in a trade UNLESS they are either OVERPAID, and the team is in financial or cap distress, or an "enigmatic" slug like Yashin, and they are willing to take on that salary and/or put up with that cr*p, and we are not going to sign one as a UFA until this team is ALREADY GOOD- no one is going to come play for a mediocre team that plays in a dump, because they can get the same coin elsewhere. It just isn't going to happen, and it's not for a lack of trying, contrary to what a lot of you believe. It just is what it is.

Kids equal no playoffs. We have tried kids for 4 years and has got us no where. Sign quality players with some talent and we will be ok
- kasperrko

Our kids are now old enough to be vets... and the other kids have done their time correctly in Juniors, AHL, etc. I would rather see Ullstrom, Casey, Kabanov, get a shot... than a Pando, Boulton, Boyes.

Snow SAID that he expects ONE Prospect to make the Isles Starting "D".

DeHaan, Ness or Donovan.

My guess is. If we sign another Vet "D" man. Then Snow plans on using one of our "D" prospects as Trade Bait.

Isles should bring in Mulleur an Wolski for cheap,
dont 4get, Boyes use to play Center, so he might play it here if we can not find a 2nd line guy

I am hoping we use 2 for a Trade to get a top tier D-man. not after the fact.

I bought one of those family four packs three seasons ago. I've been getting calls about buying tickets ever since.

Yeah, what really equals no playoffs is cr*p, young or old.....ESPECIALLY goaltending. Hate to keep repeating that one, but there's no way around that.....you can't keep putting losers in the goal just because you like them- not if you want to win ANYTHING...EVER.

Ok I knew this would happen. We ask to get tougher so we sign some tougher guys people start complaining. We asked to bring in some forwards with some talent, we bring in Boyes and we start complaining. this team is a lot better then last year already.

Dee oh yeah welcome to the Wolf Pack. I dont know why people thought Suter or Parise were going to sign here, wouldnt happen ina million years

- kasperrko

If you haven't actually watched the guy play, please don't be so quick to criticize those of us who have for not being ecstatic about him being here.

I agree but just pointing out the possibilities, but then again the way this team runs, I would not be shocked

Seems to me that they don't think the kids are ready. I'm sure Wang would rather be paying one of them than a vet.

I have to disagree with that. I cant see the Isles signing a player for 3 yrs to play part time.

I think he's already penciled in on the 3rd pair with his partner yet to be determined.

Just My opinion. Can anyone really know what the Isles have in mind?

by the way.. was out last week visiting clients.. Tuesday I played in Flyers alumni golf outing. I had Dan McGillis in my group. Could not have been a nicer guy. Actually all of the hockey players could not have been nicer. JR was a riot. I asked if he was ever going to come to blow with Milbury. He laughed and said... "it's been close a few times."

That is exactly why they need Carkner. Because hes perfect against the divisional opponents, the same opponentsthat have been kicking the islanders teeth in every year. The isles keep missing the playoffs because they can't win divisional games, tie opponents they play the most frequently. They play the western conference and southeast division teams fine. They can't beat Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the devils or the rangers.

It's been pretty much said by me at least 4 times I don't want him either, but if they signed him to a one-year bonus laden contract, I'd take him.

Carkner who brings toughness an leadership, prob brought here to teach an show the kids, something we lacked, bc Staios did a lousy job on that, an bc Carkner is 32yrs old he's gonna stay a while, which makes sense, another Brandon Witt, which this team needed, before Witt lost his skills

At least Ottawa made an attempt to keep Carkner. It wasn't what he wanted, but it shows they recognized that he had some value to their rebuilding team. The only concern with him is hoping there are not lingering issues from his knee injury. Other than that, it's exactly one of the things we need...a tough customer who, yes, will even play a little dirty when protecting his net. Maybe taking a gloved punch to the face in the crease will make some of these guys think twice about running over our goalies every game.

why wouldnt Boyes be a possible Replacement for PA.

PA is 29 years old. Boyes is 30. PA was an AHL player his whole career before he joined isles.

How many times did PA score 40 goals in his career.

Boyes at 1mm is very low risk. guy has change to revive his career. We all now JT makes everyone better around him.

hey just curious, How do you think Duchene feels that PA makes more money than him. thats just embarassing.

and bc of his lingering knee issues, thats prob why Snow is trying to bring in another veteran D-man, so it can rotate the D line-up
