Wang obviously overacted to the league wide over reaction to that Pittsburgh game. Although the conspiracy theorist in me wonders whether there wasn't some behind the scenes pressure from the league to disband the Haley/Gillies/Konopka triumvirate. Especially considering golden boy Lemieux's reaction at the time. A little more than a year later and all three are gone. Just seems fishy to me. - PeteM
Interesting!
Whats also interesting is how the league played up the brawls between boston and montreal. Played it over and over on NHL Network. Old time hockey, original six rivalry lives on. History of hate between these original 6 teams. And on and on. Meanwhile, Isle get crucified because they finally say no to having their goalie run over time after time. NO to cheap shots and losing players because of it. NO to being laughed at and mocked.
Interesting double standard. |

Wang should meet my kids. They love the fisticuffs.
This new kid we signed on a two way contract. Brandon DeFazio. He's 6'1" and weights about 215 lbs. He's suppose to be a tough, gritty forward.
So we let Haley, Gillies and Steve Oleksy leave Bridgeport and we sign Riley, Halmo and DeFazio. The Isles organization is a revolving door of tough guys who rarely spend anytime with the big club. - SCLI
At least the Isles got Carmine Defazio. The big Ragu. |

Ryan can push all he wants. Unless he's got a NTC he's going to whoever Anaheim thinks is making the best offer. - PeteM
I just hope Ryan does not write love notes to Bobby Clarke and cries like Ryan Smyth. Isles better make sure they can lock up Ryan before moving big pieces for him. |

I'd have to imagine that if Snow was going to put together a package of the caliber it would take to get him, it would require that he be assured that Ryan would report if traded to us. |

That's only part one. If they give up a big package they need to lock him up long term. I thought his contract was up in 2 years? After Snow let PA walk for nothing I have little faith Snow can handle all the details. |

Hey Dee...
PA contract is wrong in your article is wrong.
Also... they never mentioned the Islanders when they commented on FA. They said Columbus is the Island of Misfit Toys. (as in the Rudolph the Reindeer cartoon)...
Pierre McGuire said he thought the Isles did a good job of giving Boyes a chance, and thought that adding Carkner would only help the young guys and Streit. Give them a little more room back there.
Just some early morning proof reading...lol.
It's nice they gave Boyes a chance to redeem himself... but he's not exactly a high end replacement for our top line.
We need to add another top 6 guy.
Carkner will add some toughness.
Boulton is a bum... will probably play in the AHL all year. - jimmc7722

I think its safe to say Jay Feaster is the worst GM currently employed in the NHL. First the Wideman signing now Hudler. Dear God! Wasted almost 10 million on those two guys... Wow. |

Well i guess Snow isn't getting that second line center he(and us)were hoping for? Not that I love the guy bhut he'd be a good second line center for us. We very much need one. |

why wouldnt Boyes be a possible Replacement for PA.
PA is 29 years old. Boyes is 30. PA was an AHL player his whole career before he joined isles.
How many times did PA score 40 goals in his career.
Boyes at 1mm is very low risk. guy has change to revive his career. We all now JT makes everyone better around him.
hey just curious, How do you think Duchene feels that PA makes more money than him. thats just embarassing. - Spartiarti
Honestly how do you even ask this question? Boyes has been scoring less every year for the last 4 years. There is a reason that he jumped at signing with the Islanders after taking a $3m paycut and it's because everyone thinks he is washed up. 29 other teams didn't make him an offer & The Islanders the last team any FA wants to play for signs this guy for a 1@$1m - but hey he is a replacement for PA the guy averaging 60 pts a year over the last 2, who had multiple multi year offers for 3@3m and Colorado who offered 4@4.
Want to know why Boyes didn't sniff those #'s? Simple - he scored 8 goals last year. The only reason Boyes is low risk is because he is signed for 1 year.
That being said as an Islander fan I do hope Boyes turns it around if he gets to play on JT's line and if he doesn't. |

call me crazy but I rather the Isles not make the playoffs but atleast make the season fun watching guys like Haley, Konopka, Gillies and Martin, then not make the playoffs while playing boring hockey with no excitement. If we are going to suck atleast make it fun. Two years ago was a fun time to be an Isles fan with the so called "goon squad" |

Well, at least we're revolving our role players rather than the core. Honestly I have plenty of optimism that this team will be better just based on the maturity of guys like Hamonic, Tavares, Nino (yeah Nino) and a few others. It's going to have to be where our primary improvement is since we're unlikely to make headlines in the UFA market until 2015. |

Isles best shot at making headlines was signing their own player. I'm livid over the p.a. Loss. Who the (frank) is scoring a goal next season.. . |

Lots of time to make a trade before the season. We have to leave some openings for the kids to have a shot at as well. I'm going to hold judgement until preseason starts. |
