Personally I don't believe either of them, but that's just me. I believe anything Staple says even less. Remember when Dylan Reese was re-signing with us LOL

Even if Bob is right Ryan is going to push to be traded to Philly. It was mentioned at the draft he loves Philly and his father and Bobby Clarke are buddies.

I don't mind either the Carkner or Boyes signings frankly. The Boulton is a footnote signing obviously. Still, Boyes has the ability that he may prove a decent signing and Carkner gives us a combination of size and toughness we haven't had since Sutton was here. Of course he has to actually make it through a full season.

I like the Carkner signing. For all the obvious reasons.

All I know about Boyes is what the guys here have posted since the trade. It doesnt have me jumping for joy. Seems like Snows looking for lightning to strike Thrice.
Grabner, PAP and now Boyes.

I am happy Snow has addressed our lack of toughness and grit. But I'm scratching my head a little by his signing of Boulton.

Why Boulton @ age 35? There were a ton of tough guys out there on the Free agent market that are younger and just as tough. Some who can actually take a regular shift. Heck if we would have just kept some of the players we let walk over the past couple of years we wouldnt even be having this conversation. Seems aside from Martin (did I speak to soon) every time we get an enforcer or a gritty player. We let em walk during the off season.

Weight said last night while being interviewed by Kathryn Tappan, that the Isles were lacking in grit and toughness last season.

Well who the Hells fault was that? We had one of the toughest teams in the league two seasons ago and Snow dismantled it after they gelled during the 2nd 1/2 of the season.

Now they have to address the issue? Again? Have we heard this story before? Like nearly every yr.

Anyone have any ideas for an all inclusive vacay for four or five nights. Island or something, good food. Completely off topic I know. Doing a vacay on a whim quick having probs deciding.

He doesn't have a say in where he goes and I don't think Anaheim is really interested in doing what he wants at this point. In fact, they're more likely to send him to us as almost to punish him

Isles love getting tough guys they can sit for game after game. The first time Boulton does something crazy on the ice he will be sitting.

Yep, and there in lies my gripe with Wang. While I will defend Wang over many things financial with the team, it's his desire to turn the Isles into a family friendly show that keeps them from being tough. From getting rid of the chicken dance song to saying buh-bye to guys like Haley, Zenon etc, it's well known that Wang has a distaste for the violent side of the game and I think it's his own stamp on the team that the Isles quickly downplayed the significance of that Penguin mauling and subsequently presented a more finess, family-friendly team thereafter. At least it does appear they've recognized that and will be ready to toughen up. I don't feel too bad about our defense at this point but would like us to add at least one dangerous forward.

For the record, I had been hoping since last February that we'd draft Griffin Reinhart, so they at least made me happy in that respect.

Not off the top of my head but I'm sure we could spend several days here on HB discussing it. Exchanging Ideas and weighing the pros and cons of vacationing in the mountains or along the Shore.

Hell it doesnt look like there will be anymore Islander news until September.

Lol True but I do not want this guy mooning over Philly if he is an Islander. Isles do not need any more drama like Kirk Muller.

Wang should meet my kids. They love the fisticuffs.

This new kid we signed on a two way contract. Brandon DeFazio. He's 6'1" and weights about 215 lbs. He's suppose to be a tough, gritty forward.

So we let Haley, Gillies and Steve Oleksy leave Bridgeport and we sign Riley, Halmo and DeFazio. The Isles organization is a revolving door of tough guys who rarely spend anytime with the big club.

Ryan can push all he wants. Unless he's got a NTC he's going to whoever Anaheim thinks is making the best offer.

Wang obviously overacted to the league wide over reaction to that Pittsburgh game. Although the conspiracy theorist in me wonders whether there wasn't some behind the scenes pressure from the league to disband the Haley/Gillies/Konopka triumvirate. Especially considering golden boy Lemieux's reaction at the time. A little more than a year later and all three are gone. Just seems fishy to me.

I have been there a few times.

Actually got married there.

It's more likely that they aren't here because they have the combined hockey skill of a rock and are easily interchangeable. Haley is the only one who's game is even passable out of those 3.
