The criticism of not signing Schultz is stupid- the guy went closer to home, were he knew he'd get more ice-time.
The criticism of Connolly is stupid, simply because if Burke hadn't gotten Connolly, the criticism would be that he did too little.
Kovalchuk and Richards both signed for ridiculously large deals, that would have been criticized by Spector if Burke had done them.

And at the end of the article, he sets up Burke for more criticism in a future article by mentioning players who's GMs are looking for overpayments as the only moves Burke has left for redemption. And you know exactly what this idiot would say if Burke gave up what is being asked for either of those players.

He knocks Burke for not bringing in size, but fails to look at the prospects drafted and traded for.

Basically, yea, I think it's a rag, by a blogger who has a long-standing tradition of pointing out all the negatives with the Leafs, and ignoring any positives.

If Burke can pull of a big trade and get an actual centre I'll be happy. But until that time I'm not overly happy with what he's done with this club.

That's fine, can't complain about people not being happy about non-playoff teams

Same here. Most really good teams or even just playoff teams will have at least two of the following four things: a franchise goalie, a franchise centre, a franchise winger, a franchise dman. I'd say Kessel fits franchise winger status (and that's being generous) but that's it. Phaneuf in his prime a franchise defender, sure, but not the way he's played in the last few years. Grabs/Bozak are not franchise centres. Reimer, at this point anyway, is not a franchise goalie.

And just for clarification, when I say "franchise" I mean good enough that if he was put on about 20-25 other teams he'd be playing in that number one spot.

Still looking in to but it looks like someone had help from another poster, which is a shame if it is so, it will now knock out two accounts for a couple of years.

That sounds like a B.I.G shame.

It's a terrible signing. It defies logic.

If we are going to let the kids develop, this just hurts Colborne's development.

If we are pushing for the playoffs, this does not accomplish nearly enough.

This move screws Colborne. Nothing else.
