Supply and demand, man. When they're 1:1 with the rest of the population, they can't charge too much.
That's why they export them. |

I'm glad that one of Toronto's "best" sportswriters is going on about tennis when he should be working the phones and finding out exactly when Luongo and Getzlaf are coming. |

I know you obviously think it was a rag of an article.
But in reality, it was pretty spot-on. No? |

The criticism of not signing Schultz is stupid- the guy went closer to home, were he knew he'd get more ice-time.
The criticism of Connolly is stupid, simply because if Burke hadn't gotten Connolly, the criticism would be that he did too little.
Kovalchuk and Richards both signed for ridiculously large deals, that would have been criticized by Spector if Burke had done them.
And at the end of the article, he sets up Burke for more criticism in a future article by mentioning players who's GMs are looking for overpayments as the only moves Burke has left for redemption. And you know exactly what this idiot would say if Burke gave up what is being asked for either of those players.
He knocks Burke for not bringing in size, but fails to look at the prospects drafted and traded for.
Basically, yea, I think it's a rag, by a blogger who has a long-standing tradition of pointing out all the negatives with the Leafs, and ignoring any positives. |

If we signed Schultz, we'd be hearing about how stupid it is to waste 3.8M on an unproven d-man with an attitude problem. |

You completely missed the point of the article.
His point is Toronto's "center of the hockey world shining star" is shinning less and less and there's nothing Burke has done to help it shine brighter.

Other than restock the prospect pool, and get the first PPG duo of players since Sundin&Mogilny?
Team hasn't made the playoffs yet, this is true, but to say Burke's done nothing to help this team is moronic. |

You're right. And this is Burke's finished product. He feels that no changes are required, and will not make any further moves ever to adjust the roster. |

If Burke can pull of a big trade and get an actual centre I'll be happy. But until that time I'm not overly happy with what he's done with this club. |
