These two aren't mutually exclusive.

Pretty spot IMO. There are politicians who live up to more promises than Burke has made and even they would have been booted after their four year term with similar results to what he's had...yet some people here still cling to every word he says, worship every move he makes no matter how minor and are delusional enough to believe that this team that can't even squeak into the playoffs is somehow going to win the Cup with a few tweaks here and there. A few major moves might get us into the playoffs (i.e. Luongo, Ryan, Nash, etc.) but we are still a long, long way away from winning the Cup.

Best case scenario for us, believe it or not, is to Burke to fail yet again (a given?) and for them to hire a new GM who will do what Burke didn't have the balls (brains?) to do from Day 1: tear the team down to the very foundation, tank for several years and draft a few guys in the first or second overall spot to get some elite talent on the roster and then add complimentary pieces to support them. You don't try to sign/trade for the elite talent and draft the complimentary pieces to support them it's fickle, expensive and damn near impossible.

Draft high, draft often and draft well. That's the way to win in this league.

JVR trade made Crabb expendable. Anybody know if Robbie Earl is available? He's a third liner now.

Haha that I was not a fan of his body of work and that I basically thought he was an average defenseman that piggy-backed off Gretzky. Didn't think it was an outlandish opinion.

He got 2 Cups without Wayne.

I doubt he ever gets in the Hall, but his career is pretty impressive.

Kinda like a Jason Smith in the 80's maybe.

Anyways, I don't want to get into it. I just don't think the comment warrants 3 pages of trolling

Not a bad signing of Jay McClement, still can't believe people were expecting a lot more, even we were told not to expect anything of significance.

Looks like a centre will be traded. I don't think Burke has "lost his edge", it was smart to not give stupid money in my opinion. As for your investigation; yes it was quite obvious who that was. Not sure how many times he needs to get banned until he learns how to conduct himself.

I know. It's brutal.

Like I said earlier. Guys female dog that the team is garbage and Burke has done a horrible job fixing it, then in the next breath say why didn't he sign Parise, suter, Richards, Shultz, ect".... UM

Christ, Oiler fans are upset cause Tambi hasn't done anything of significane other than drafting Nail, getting Smyth signed cheap and winning the Schultz sweeps.

What's wrong with him!!!!

If Schultz didn't land in Toronto, Edmonton was the next place I wanted him to go to, hope it works out for you guys.

It's a terrible signing. It defies logic.

If we are going to let the kids develop, this just hurts Colborne's development.

If we are pushing for the playoffs, this does not accomplish nearly enough.

This move screws Colborne. Nothing else.

I didn't know Colborne was a defensive centreman. lol. Plus he needs to get back that scoring touch he had before the nagging wrist injury that hampered him most of the year.

We need to acquire more wingers and force them into centers!! That seems like a good idea.

Schultz is a bust.

Brunnstrum redux.

Only hope for success is if they bring in a vet to mentor him.

Former all-star.

Good in the dressing room.

Helps the Oilers get to the cap floor...

all this does is accumulate assets so fringe players like colborne can be part of trades for bigger pieces.
if burke doesn't make any big trades, then yeah, we are stuck with yet another 3rd, 4th line scrub.
