I have zero issues with signing Jon Scott. He'll be in the lineup for what, 40-50 games?

A guy like him can have a bigger impact on a game, one that nobody can really even see, yet it's still there.

Our skill guys might get an extra second to make the pass, take the shot, and just make the right overall play. Guys won't be taking that extra step to make a hit knowing that Scott will be waiting in the wings the next time they hit the ice.

Think he'll be scared to give Lucic a half arsed tilly like the rest of the guys on this team have been? No. Lucic takes a run at somebody, Scott will be there to answer the bell.

Guys like him make people accountable. IMO we haven't had someone like that since Rob Ray retired, and I for one am excited about it.

So lets say that doan ends up staying in phx or even if he does leave that he signs elsewhere. as it stands now then the roster would look (somewhat) like this

van hodge pommer
foligno ennis stafford
leino roy grigorenko
scott mccormick kaleta

tropp/ellis (one has to go)

myers mcnabb (they want myers to be paired with mcnabb..dont bi#@! at me)
ehrhoff leo
sekera regehr
sulzer (although i wish somehow ehrhoff and sulzer could be paired together)

and in other news..how long do we think the foligno ennis staff line will last ? they looked incredible at the end of last season but like how long can one expect foligno to keep up that pace? i dont see him as a second line guy in the nhl...but a very very very solid 3rd liner.

trust me...i hope im wrong...but i just dont really see him keeping the pace and keeping a spot on the 2nd line

Scott will have the same impact MacIntyre had for Pittsburgh last year, nothing. Instigator rule has neutered their role in present day NHL. They are pointless. They don't scare anyone because nobody will fight them and they players aren't afraid to take runs because they know that fighter's ass is glued to the bench all the time.

Guys like Asham may be a dime a dozen, but that is the proper kind of toughness that is needed in the modern NHL. Not some scrub like Scott or MacIntyre. Even Parros is light years ahead of those two as hockey players.

Which is the sole reason he is here, if Lucic or any division team takes a run at someone. The next game Scott will be there and vice versa, Kaleta takes a run at someone.. Scott plays the next game against that team for insurace that things dont get outta hand
- sbroads24

If we had John Scott last year, Lucic never takes that run at Miller.

Teams know whats going on. Players do as well. They know who they can get away with stuff on, who will or won't respond to on ice actions, and who's reactions will actually matter to them.

Lucic knew there was nobody on this team that could make him answer to his actions. Now he knows. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if on October 30, he's in the lineup and scraps with Lucic in the first period, just to maybe set the tone.

I think I'd take a chance on Semin at this point. His stats are pretty much identical to Parise. Sure hes not a leader and wont give you those leadership intangibles that Parise gives you but he will give us that boost in scoring. We have other players on this team that can lead. If the NHL is where he wants to be, he can use it as a chance to redeem his reputation that been trampled on simply because hes Russian.

Parros would have been nice. But I probably would choose sunrise over Buffalo, too.

Making the playoffs has an effect. Say we got in last year... Good chance we would have given someone a good run. Teams remember that.

And what does said guy feel about these options?

It could be an afternoon special.

What you can and can't do when you buy a guy?
