This is completely incorrect. That guy whos opinion you linked me to is completely wrong. Please go to the CBA and read for yourself.
If a player is 23 years old, 3 years removed from the ELC, and has played fewer than 60 NHL games (regular season and playoffs)
HE IS EXEMPT FROM WAIVERS - theblueandgold
No he is not and I'm not going to argue with you anymore. When he is exposed to waivers (if he's still a Sabre) in late Sept you'll know then. A player doesn't have to play 160 games in the NHL, it's 160 games as a pro or 3 years. I'm sure it was negotiated in the CBA to help players stuck in the minors on one team to help them move to another team and to the NHL if their abilities warrent it.

All I said was it's a waste of a roster spot.
There are ways to get tougher wihout resorting to signing a talentless goon. I hated Peters when he was here and I already hate Scott.
They will stil get pushed around because the goon scares no one from the press box. - dadeadhead
well then I guess that is why we pay McCormick 1.25M per year.. to be our back up plan in a game that is not assumed to be a chirpy/shoving kind of game.

And if we can't get a center back,
Possibly Catenacci will be ready...
Or we can give Grigorenko and/or Girgensons a 9game tryout to see how they do - jdfitz77
Girgensons doesn't have a 9 game limit. He either plays at Vermont, or he signs here and plays in Buffalo or Rochester. There is no junior hockey for him

It all depends on whether he gets a 2 way or 1 way contract, I doubt he gets a 1 way contract

would Girgensons be eligible for the 9 game tryout while intending to play for Vermont?

Now that's really a waste of a roster spot.....
Even in Rochester...... - DixonWard
yea when he was with Washington they tried to convert him to wing in order to actually play the goon role but just kept trying to teach him to skate better and play Defense.. and eventually their project became a waste of a spot and they let him go...
Miller also had 2 1-0 shut outs in that series... don't forget about that..
sweet offensive help... Miller is also NOT the reason why we lost that series. - JVince11
Miller can never finish the job. Playoffs, Gold Medal game, ect. Once in a while, your goalie has to bail the team out. Its not always the teams fault.

I think it's a step in the right direction. At least they now have the "option" of putting a goon in the line-up. Will it work? I guess we'll find out and honestly, I can't wait to see him against Boston.

Capt, no offense, that's one of the worst trades I've ever seen on this site. Ryan is a winger. Early comparison of Armia is Vanek. Luke Adam can score and his confidence is shot. Analysts say next year's draft is the deepest in years. I don't think this team, as currently constructed, makes the playoffs. Therefore the pick is likely a top 12 pick. Pysyk will be a top 4 pairing dman here with McNabb and Myers.
Bad bad bad deal.
That deal for Getzlaf? I'm there, but not Bobby Ryan. - PassionBucket16
You'd rather have Getzlaf than Ryan?
I know he plays center,
But I'd MUCH rather have Ryan
Getzlaf scored a whopping 11goals last year, which I'm sure he'll improve on...
But it's a contract year so he'll also be looking for a big payday after next season
I believe Ryan is under contract for around 5mil for 3more years
I'd def rather have Ryan
That said,
There's also no way I'd be giving up ennis, McNabb, 1st (or anything like that) for him.... WAY too much

He also can score and be an agitaitor.
Something your boy Scott can't do. - dadeadhead
thats laughable... I had only heard of the guy once before today and that was because he was just devastating teams when he was with Chicago with all of his body checks.
I am just not a hypocritical fan.. I don't complain about wanting a guy who will stand up for his teammates and who will instill fear into an opponent so our key players don't get trampled and then when we finally get a great fighter.. I analyze him for his offensive output.

No, Miller has been here 9 years. Time for a change. Addition by headcase subtraction. - jerryl1964
well he has this year and next... I'm sure you will be like the rest of the people that bash on Miller all year but when he is true to his form like he was the whole second half of the year.. you will disappear.

Philly wouldve swept us if Miller wasnt our goalie
