I love the signing and agree that he's needed on this team considering what has happened over the past couple of years. Then again, I own a Peters jersey...so.....
- The_Inkwell

Peters is one of the worst 1st round picks every made... The guy came to us with no NHL experience by way of the draft and he sucked as a fighter in the NHL..

Scott is coming to us with what 3 years in the NHL and a very very impressive fight resume against some of the best names in the business.. someone even said he was 24-0..

Scott suits up every game against Boston, Toronto, Philly, Pitt, NYR, Ottawa, and Montreal. I guarantee that..

cool.. then our players will just get punked to poop.. run over.. hit after whistles... boarded.. and elbowed because well..

"we just play by the rules you big bunch of meany headed dirty mouthed guys"

- JVince11

Let's be honest here. John Scott will play a handful of games. He will make a bit of a presence, but what we need -- and I think DD may agree -- is a Scott Hartnell type, or two, that can ACTUALLY play hockey. Skill w/ toughness, someone you can put on the ice in many situations, not AFTER our goalie was run

it doesnt hurt to have him around anyway
- Homer

It doesn't help either though.

Roster spot for a guy that will play 30 games and if we make the playoffs won't see any action.

There's signing for a need and then there's a stupid panic signing.

This is the latter.

Scott has no business in the NHL.

- dadeadhead

why is it a panic signing? He addresses a need if you ask me...again, its only 600k and he plays what, 30 games? He's there if you need him.

No body is saying that Scott is gonna be our Lucic or Hartnell type player... NO ONE.

He is a 4th liner that is better than McCormick in every facet of the game.

If we can get a Lucic or Hartnell type guy then I am all for it.. but they don't just grow on trees.... See kassian.

You clearly dont understand how the NHL works.

He doesnt even have a contract yet, but lets say for the sake of argument he has a 1 way contract.

The Sabres will place him in the AHL before the regular season starts, and he doesnt have to go through any type of waivers.

Remember Morrisson last season? Remember how he didnt play a single game for Buffalo? Remember how he had a 1 way contract? Remember how he played in Rochester the entire year on said contract?

- theblueandgold

he also had to clear waivers. You cant just put guys in Rochester and not expose them to waivers, if they're waiver eligible. He was placed on waivers and there were no takers. Look it up

He'll be the 13th forward for the entire season. Most likely play against the teams that Ruff will feel is going to be a physical game. It doesnt hurt nor help, although in terms of his fighting ability, I suppose it helps.

Ryan is younger.
A bit more of a banger.
Like pomminville as a player not as a captain.
The room could use a change. The core of this team has not come thr.
Pommer to nice a guy to be a captain. i want my captain a Doan type not a lady binge guy.

You're wrong, no one claimed Morrisson because of his multi-million dollar contract after he was exposed to waivers before he was sent to Rochester. Look things up if you don't understand them before looking like an ass.

ok. Scott is clearly NOT better than McCormick in EVERY facet of the game. Not a Cody fan, but let's not get too excited over John Scott.

He can win faceoffs is what you meant to say...

and why did he only play 55 games last year?? he was a healthy scratch just the same as Scott could be.
