Druy's favorite team as a kid was the Rangers (from Conn) had opportunity to go there when they offered....no amount of $ would have kept him here. Briere on the other hand wanted to stay here and look what happened

A lot of those guys are role players who will probably come up big for their respective teams come May next year. I also would have taken a legit tough guy so we ship Kaleta out of here.W
ALO, N.Y. (July 1, 2012) --- Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier today announced that the team has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward John Scott on a one-year contract.
"John's size and toughness make him a difficult player to battle against," Regier said. "His physical play will be a valuable addition to our team."
Scott (6’8”, 270 lbs., 9/26/82) split the 2011-12 season between the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers, tallying one assist and 53 penalty minutes in 35 games. In four NHL seasons, the native of Edmonton, Alberta has appeared in 146 career games with the Rangers, Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild, recording five points (1+4) and 236 penalty minutes.

Honestly, for that coin I'd just as soon have us draft someone that then earns that contract with us. - nfph
I'm three hours late on this response about Parise, but yes, the only way you get your money's worth is to do it that way, like with a Crosby or Malkin. Basically you have to do the "Pittsburgh model" and have these guys fall in your lap, then become a Stanley cup team. You cant be middle of the road like Buffalo and pay your way to the top. You never get those affordable young years of the players career and you inherit the down years later on for waaaayyy too much money.
