Too much for Whitney on a 2 year deal. |
|
|
|
The second year and extra 500K per is probably what got them Whitney. That contract might look ugly this time next year. - Nucker101
I wouldn't take it. |

Colby Armstrong might be a nice value signing by MTL. |

Agreed, some people think Luongo is over the hill at 33 but a 40 year old Whitney for 2 years at $4.5 is a good deal? |

Maybe a little much... 500 grand in bonuses per year.... I would have done it... he would have turned booth into a 60 point player. And anchoring the 2nd pp unit.. as of right now... we have no one for that 2nd unit.
He was EXACTLY what that 2nd line needed... Parenteau is the only guy left who would really benefit that 2nd line. |

Its actually 4 million per... with some bonuses... which is the way to go with 35+ deals.
77 points last year... his style of play allows him to be a bit slower and "older" and still manage to make those plays. One of the most underrated players of all time
I had him at between 3.5 to 4 million... so pretty much where I thought. |

Do bonuses not count against the cap? It is a huge risk for a team like Vancouver who spends to the cap every year to commit that much cap space to a player that is already 40. |

Burish is also off my list. 4 years is too much though. |

I love Leafs pay him 3 mil, then Habs pay him 1 mil to come kick the Leafs ass for 1 mil. |

I think it works like ELC... where if he reaches his bonus threshold... lets say 60 points+.. it carries over to the next year. Or I could be wrong.. but from what I understand.. only ELC and 35+ contracts can have bonuses that don't immediately go against the cap. |

Agreed. He was expected to score 20 in TO and now he just has to be a decent 4th liner and he still has the potential to score 10+. I like MTL's new management. |

But I don't think it is a performance bonus, I think it is a signing bonus, which is really just part of the salary. Either way a cap hit of $4 or $4.5 to me is too much on a two year deal. If something happens and he doesn't play in year 2 we would be screwed. |

I do agree the 2 year would be a bit of deal breaker for me... but I think the risk would be worth it... 40 or not.. the guy is still a top 6 play making stud.
I really hope Gillis goes after Parenteau... Allen and Parros. |

Canucks may have some interest in FA Tom Kostopoulos, but his agent, Jerome Buckley, won't confirm it. Agent says several teams calling.

Brad Boyes for 1 million... I would have done that in a heart beat... a solid guy to have on the 3rd line... who could fill in top 6 if there is injuries... as well as a 2nd pp guy. |

Everyone has Parros on their wish list here, I don't want him a regular. I'd take him as a 13th forward though. |
