Finger was never a top 4 d-man that can play in all situations, hit, block shots and be a very reliable defensive d-man. Give your head a shake.

Completely disagree. As someone who lives in Ottawa and has watched the Sens for the past few years, Foligno is really inconsistent. Flashes of brilliance but nothing special. Methot is an ottawa native, big guy, and has a few years on his contract. He fits perfectly in Murray's philosophy of getting younger and bigger on the blue line. They have Karlsson, Cowen, Methot and Ceci in the future.

I like Foligno a lot as well, just saying that it wouldn't be a horrible trade. Ottawa should deal Zack Smith and a pick/prospect instead.

It's all about identity. Foligno isn't skilled enough to be a 2nd liner. Smith was an excellent 3rd line player and pker for the Sens this year.

For sure. However, it is clear the market is really inflated. I expect Gillis to do most of his work in August, such as when he signed Torres a few years ago for under $1 million, etc.

What's the rush? Maybe its just me, but I would rather not over pay for players. When all you need is depth players, no need to break the bank.

I get less and less impressed with Gillis as each day passes.

Another 4th line option I like is Matt Bradley(I believe Ian has mentioned him). Big guy with decent skating ability for his size and very physical and can score around 5 goals on the 4th line.

I don't see the problem with it. He'd obviously be brought in as a depth d-man and on a cheap deal with potential to do more if he adapts well. Better value than signing a guy like Carkner.
