Predators agreed to a four-year, $13 million deal with Paul Gaustad. For a 30 year old forward with 21 points and 114 hits last year.
Dave Bolland @ 3 mil looks pretty good!
Teams are going to overpay again with all that cap space available.
Hawks have 23 players signed and jamed up at forward. Don't see the Hawks being much of a player with out dumping players or salary via trade or release.

Not saying it turned out well at all just saying that Holmstrom is alot better and an upgrade over brunette in front of the net
And our PP was terrible last year and i think having a guy like Holmstrom standing in front of the net would cause havoc for opposing goalies..
I mean one of the main reasons why we lost to phoenix is cause no one was able to screen any shots in front of Mike Smith - hawkshossa81
I'd rather save that money and sign a PP point shooter. |

Well, if it's a 4 year deal that Doan wants, then I agree, but if you can get Doan for 2 years I do it in a heartbeat. - Ogilthorpe2
I would do the 4 year deal. Front load it.. We need his type of game BAD. |

Or hire a coach that reminds Keith he's allowed to change the angle and not shoot into the opponent's shins? |

If Doan is leaving PHX I think he'll be looking for more than a 2 year deal and I think teams will pony up for 4. |

If it didn't turn out well at all, why would the same strategy work? Isn't that the definition of insanity?
Anyways, Holmstrom is either going to be in Detroit or he'll retire. It's time to move on and find something else to champion.

@JayZawaski670 @Vertucci24 but I'm hearing they could be in on Carkner regardless of bigger names. Also, guys like McClement, Winnik |

I'd take Carkner as a 7th dman and McClement as the 4th line center. |

Over 35 contracts don't work the same way as traditional contracts. Buyer beware.
Edit. Just looked it up:
The "35-and-Older" Clause:
When a player aged 35 or older signs a multi-year contract, his average salary is counted against the team's salary cap during every year of the contract, even if the player retires before the contract is up.
If the player is sent to the minor leagues, his cap hit is reduced by $100,000. |

We will start the day with John Scott Then Stan will feel special that he got a 5th pick for him and then resigned him. What a smart man |

I heard that Doan wants to decide after July 9 th . That is 5 mil a team has to hold back if you get in on the Doan sweeps and possibly miss out on someone else.
If he decides to stay in PHO ,then you are caught there holding your Johnson. |

New strategy: Go through the UFA list and find the three slowest skaters. There are Stan's signings. Just going off last year. |

I'd like to have him but I wouldn't take the risk of waiting for him and coming away with nothing. |

But the cap space would offer Stan the flexibility to make moves at the TDL. Oh wait... |

Caveat Emptor (Buyer beware). I like Doan's game too, but neither of us may like it so much in 2015 and 2016 and the team is stuck with the full cap hit.
And Phoenix hasn't even made an offer to their captain yet? |
