The teams that can take on salary...
CapGeek @capgeek
Top five furthest from #NHL cap floor: 1. PHX $16.2M; 2. NAS $16.0M; 3. ANA $14.9M; 4. DAL $14.5M; 5. COL, $13.5M.
...Bad contracts go here? - EKolb13
What I am not happy about is all that cap room is in the West.
I can see some really silly money being thrown around today.
That is why I may vomit in my mouth when SB announces who his big FA splash will be.
My only hope is that the target is signed before noon, otherwise I do not see anything but mid to low level signings by the Hawks.

$12M signing bonus for Parise? Bye bye NJ Devils - they haven't got $12 bucks to their name.
Nash, Bouwmeester and a goalie are all the Hawks need. Won't happen. - RickJ
Rather have Doan than Nash. |

According to TSN's diligent reporters Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger:
“If you're having a hard time grasping what Parise is going through right now, imagine he has hit a bump in the road in a long-term relationship, and his girlfriend wants him to see what else is out there but has made it clear she wants to be together forever. Parise will be speed dating at his agent's office in Toronto with teams like the Penguins, Wild and Red Wings, seeing if anyone can win his heart. In the end, he will either decide the Devils were right for him all along, or wind up with someone new. There's no bigger story out there today than Parise and where ends up, which could be almost anywhere.”

Tampa Bay will be pressing hard for a top-4 defenseman today. If the Bolts can't sign one, expect them to trade for one.
Hjalmarsson to Tampa? |

Doan is 36 with 16 seasons on his body and will be looking for at least 3 years on a new deal. Never even gets mentioned when Team Canada puts their best teams together.
Nash is 27, has size, speed, wants to play for a winner. Lots of tread left on the tires and he is an automatic pick for Team Canada's best teams.
Sorry, I want the younger, much better player. |

Well, if Bouwmeester were to happen, Stahlberg, Frolik, Hammer and or Monty would need to go, salary wise.
Do you think CC will be better or does the need an improvement in net as well?

I dont think Parise is camped out in Toronto just to tell the Hockey World in a few minutes that he is going to re~sign with the NJD |

Boumeester could happen just by trading Hjalmarsson. |

Much better? Don't know about that. I'd take either, but Doan's got more nasty in his game and only costs you $, not players/prospects. |
