Edit: I don't see how the Hawks sign Suter. The numbers NHL live is throwing around are crazy and I just don't see how Chicago can afford him.

The numbers they're using - large up-front signing bonuses, $28MM for the first 2 years - still get to an AAV over the life of the contract of about $7MM. The signing bonuses are a way for him to get paid during a lock-out this year.

Hawks could certainly afford that.

agreed....simple cap math, as long as the AAV is under 8, as of right now, hawks are good. I just don't know if Stan has the cojones to offer it
