Exactly, let him (frank)ing walk. This is truly a case of a team having to break the bank for one player.
I've loved and felt privileged to have watch Zach play. His work ethic is inspiring. But he's not a top 10 player in the league. Peace out, Zach! - FLdevilsFAN
I wouldn't say all that he has a lot of skill. If he wants the signing bonus up front we are definitely going to struggle to sign him. |

The question is how long is Lou willing to wait. The goaltending situation is waiting on him. We won't sign goaltending until we sign or don't sign Parise. If Parise takes a week to sign, the good goalies could already be off the market. Lou has to have some sort of deadline and say, I need a definite answer by whenever. This might turn into the Niedermeyer scenario where when he leaves there isn't quality players to replace him. - _Zippy_
This is why I will never cheer for Nieds again in my life (I won't boo him either). I had no problem with him wanting to play with his brother but he took so long to make his decision that he left the Devils in disarray that lasted for a few years after he left (remember the great McGillis and Malakhov signings!!) We had to trade a #1 just to get rid of Vlad and McGillis became an expensive AHL player. Devils can't do that with Parise or even Marty. I say the Devils go out and sign another "cheaper" player (just thoughts here...Semin?) or make a trade (Radulov's rights, Bobby Ryan etc etc) Don't sit back and wait for disaster!! |

I wouldn't mind Semin if Parise leaves us. What are the free agent goalies looking like? I have no idea who is even available i thought we had at least a year to worry about this. |

Once again the desire and longing for the demise of the NJ Devils has clouded the logical thought processes of the delusional haters.
We've been hearing for probably at least a decade now from the media and various other haters across the NHL that "this is the year NJ falls off".
Well, we're still waiting...... |

When you think about it, the players really don't care so much what they are leaving their previous organization in. They aren't thinking I've got to make my decision quick so the Devils can grab a replacement.
Anyways, I hope to see Lou sign either Gustavsson or Hedberg soon. At least one of them, and Marty or another goalie to complete the tandem, comes later. |

They are looking really.
Huet, Brodeur, Roloson, Nittymaki, C. Mason, Leighton, Ellis, Gustavsson, Hedberg, Tarkki, Auld, then the rest are AHLers.
The only one of interest to me of the lower salaries is Cedrik Desjardins or if we are really desperate Curtis Sanford. |

This is why it's on Lou to do what he's gotta do.
At the same time, I hope he's learned from past failures and doesn't start handing out NMC, NTC, and 35+ contracts like (frank)ing Halloween candy! |

Agreed, the player will always do whats best for them but Lou was being "LOYAL" to Nieds by giving him time to make his dicision while I feel he should of gave him a deadline to accept or go in another direction. As for the goalie replacement, it probably will come via trade (Crawford, Bernier etc...maybe whatever team signs Marty will trade their #1?) I hate to say this but I'm am hoping, really hoping Marty doesn't resign here. |

To be fair, Rolston was a hot commodity coming off of three consecutive 30g 30a seasons. |

What I would really like to see if Vanderbeek go a year or two without taking a salary. That would fix the team he so lovingly runs.
Fat chance on that though, eh?
Whatever happened to good, honest people?

If Marty doesn't sign, it will be more of a shock than a disappointment to me. Clemmer resigned with Florida, so they are going with Clemmer/Theodore. Markstrom said he wanted to be the number one there too....The only problem with Brodeur not signing, is there is absolutely no one out there that is enticing. There's a couple of goalies that could form a tandem, but no starters.
A trade will cost too much IMO. I think they just go with a tandem and ride the hot goalie. |

Right now, Parise is sitting back with his feet up watching teams beg to him. Pretty awesome situation to be in. |

Anyways, Parise probably won't make his decision until tomorrow or the day after. He's going to have to consider all the teams, etc. |

I hope Lou doesn't beg. Have some dignity, he's not a God. If other players start signing, Lou needs to walk away. They still have to reach the floor and ice and complete team. |

Going to suck if he leaves. Can't replace him and our team is going to take a huge blow. |
