Flyers should sign both Suter and Carle and trade Timonen back to Nashville

Thanks for the in depth answer buddy!!

Could you elaborate a tad please? Would we have to trade someone with a Mez-like cap hit to stay cap compliant?

I don't know any of the numbers associated with our off season "cap".

MJLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!???

- Giroux_Is_God

From my understanding, we would be just fine - even with a 8mil cap hit from Parise or Suter. Technically we would be over the cap ceiling during the summer but that is allowed up to ten percent. Then, once the season begins, Pronger would go on the LTIR to give the wiggle room needed.

If I'm wrong, please someone correct me.

So...for poops and laughs, let's say we sign one of Parise or Suter for a cap hit of 8.

Am I correct with the following:

1. Bye bye Czech
2. Bye bye Carle
3. Bye bye Mezaros (to get back under the cap....)

Oh, I see. They're playing who as the 6 d?

This wasn't a scenario or a proposal or anything.

I was actually asking if that was gonna happen because of cap issues and stuff. Not because I want or thought it would happen.

I'm figuring signing a player to a 7.5+ mil cap hit is gonna demolish this team's cap and they'd have to dump major salary to accommodate...I'm in no ways an expert on the cap figures and rules so I was asking what measures would need to be taken to work a 7.5+ mil contract in.

If that makes any sense

Eskin just reported to get Ryan it would take Gusty, Read and a number one pick.

He has to be one of the biggest jokers im sports. How can someone maintain a job with his lack of knowledge?

I'd do that in a heartbeat. Sucks losing Read at a low hit, as well as Gusty; but it's a no-brainer.

Agreed, but the reality is Eskin is the no brainer.

So 100 million for Suter

100 million for Parise

60 million for Bryz

Quarter of a billion dollars

Im interested to see if money talks or if these guys stick to their original plans

I'm starting to not like Parise. Making everyone wait another day. All about him. No different then Ryan imo. Stay in NJ you chump.
- stveshdy

Parise isn't making everyone wait another day. The other players and teams are choosing to do so. Parise is making a decision on where he's going to play for the next 10 years or so. How doesn't he deserve the right to sleep on it and think about his decision?

I read that comment as probably sarcasm, but I could be wrong about that.

In other news, looks like Marty is staying in NJ for 2 years per RDS

I slept on it. I couldnt get him and Suter in Flyers jerseys out of my head. Money usually talks, but these 2 guys seem a little different. It'd be hard to pass up a couple million dollars out of loyalty or some other human emotion. The fact that they're taking time to deliberate is somewhat promising.

Just took a look at the length of the current Flyers contracts and these offers actually make sense.

- Giroux is clearly going to get a monster deal after his current contract in 2 years.
- Schenn/Couturier are RFA so their raises won't be monster raises.
- Timonen/Hartnell come off the books after this upcoming season
- Meszaros off the books the year G, Schenn, Couturier get raises
- Coburn/Schenn/Grossman locked up through the next 4 seasons

IF they were to both sign here... we are looking at a solid 4-5 years with all of the young kids growing and competing for cups.

I hope they both sign!

I don't see how that possibly works cap wise assuming we get one of Suter or Parise.
