You got it. Many in here have been bashing CapGeek.com but I have found it to be a tremendous resource for cap situations.

How do you plan to determine how many days the two-way players were on the roster?

- Flyers2821

I have a transaction log table for each player that marks their roster status throughout the season.

Would you mind sending the numbers over for the players from last season in a PM? That would be awesome!

Also, will need to get clarification on how Schenn's cap hit works as his cap hit was much lower last year due to him starting in the NHL. (if I remember correctly)

A lot of moving parts

In the NHL, absolutely. Especially when you are talking about entering his prime years in the NHL. NHL history suggests his next 5 years will be the best of his career.
- Flyers2821

You are big on history today. Bobby Ryan keeps scoring 30+ goals, what do you think his next contract demands? 8MM+?? A lot of people made a good point. With the way that contracts are bloating Rick Nash at 7.8MM in two years could be a steal. Matt Carle is going to make over 6MM for crying out loud!

Clemmensen off the market. I'm getting nervous about Leighton :/
- eayost

Where did Clemmensen sign and what were the terms? Leighton better not be brought back here. Holmgren embarrassed himself already signing this guy to a two year deal and he started one game during the course of the contract. Move on already for (frank)s sake.

I'm sure all the apologists and yes men will find a way to rationalize a Leighton signing.

Would you agree a players prime years in the NHL are around 25-32? Your talking about 3 extra years of a player in his prime... that is a major factor.

And yes, he is under contract for 3 less years, but he wants to be a Flyer. So to me, that gives us a major leg up in signing him after that contract is up.

Bobby Ryan is absolutely the better option than Rick Nash in terms of a trade for the Flyers right now. In my opinion at least.

- Flyers2821

Look at the way contracts are rising though. In 3 years Ryan will cost just as much if not more than Nash is already under contract for.

And I hate the hometown card but I'll bite. Why would a player take a hometown discount on the contract he's signing in the prime of his career?

Where is MJL when you need him?

Preds would love to have Suter back. It's a matter of Suter deciding to shock everyone and return there. If you ask me Weber is the better player but the safest bet for the franchises future would be to get Suter long term and get a big return for Weber. Weber just might walk next year too. If I were the Preds I'd be doing everything in my power to bring Suter back.
- hereticpride

Certainly is a long shot for Suter to return to the Preds. I don't think it is coincidence the Preds have a lot of cap room right now. I think Poile will do everything he can to bring him back. It wouldn't be a good sign to the fanbase in Nashville to lose the two top players in the organization possibly in consecutive years because you couldn't pay them.

I never said he would take a "discount" but if he wants to be in Philly (which he already said he does), he won't even reach UFA.

I'd be fine letting Leighton play 10 games a year at league min salary. The issue would be if Bryz went down, I don't think he'd be able to adequately step up long term.

MJL absolutely will not be on board with Nash being a better trading piece than Bobby Ryan. I am sure of that.

Has anyone purchased the 2012 ITG Broad Street Boys Hockey trading card box set? What is the price on the box set? Any idea?

TFP has under their rumors the Flyers offering a package that could include some of if not all of Read, Voracek, Laughton, and MAB for Bobby Ryan.

Damn near even split to that poll - except the last option - with more than 900 votes cast... Although the choices aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. I'm in favor of letting Jagr walk and picking up Doan, if that's a reasonable possibility.

I would love the acquisition of Doan. He would be a great player to play on Couturier's wing. Would be one hell of a line

Me either. If anything it will allow the Flyers to give Bryz the heavy workload he needs because they won't be concerned with giving the backup a steady amount of games because he is a young player who couldn't be sent to the minors.

I don't want Doan if it requires a three year contract.

I don't want Nash.

I don't want Suter.
