I'll go on record and say I'd rather have Suter at 7 mill than Carle at 6. But I if it were up to me, I'd let them both walk and go full blast after Weber next year with Timonen off the books.
- JoeRussomanno

I think the Flyers do that anyway next year no matter whos on the roster. Thats IF Weber is available.

flyer fans are killing this server, sort of like Leighton killed his team
- vejim

Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode. Every July 1st, the servers meltdown.

Carle was destined for $5-$5.5 range before Wideman, it's not like the market is flooded with guys of his ilk.
- puckhead17

And that's exactly why he's now destined for more then that. There aren't players of his caliber available. And what happens when you have teams bidding against one another?

I like Parise a lot but that kind of money is elite/franchise type coin. I think hes a great player but not sure if hes worth that kind of money.
- stveshdy

13 years 90M is under 7M a year average

Parise is going to get that easy.

The length is absolutely killer but the problem is he wants 24M the first two years.

That's exactly what I would do as well. Suter isn't worth 7 million, and Carle isn't worth 6. Weber however is worth 8.

then the council has decided, both Matthew Carle and Ryan Suter shall take the long walk into oblivion (probably win a cup or two with their new team) and the Flyers shall pursue Shea Weber Next year!

Supposedly Parise is going to sleep on his decision until tomorrow

I guess signing with Pitt may have to wait one day

- Marc D

Well, if he does and the reported going rate at over $100M for 12 years is correct, the Penguins will have a real tough time trying to improve their blueline in the short term with over $31M of cap space tied up in four forwards.

let the Pens have him for that

they won't be able to keep Letang in 2 yrs, but they actually do a fair job of drafting and developing defenseman so they might be able to let Letang walk

Todd Cordell ‏@ToddCordell

Let me clarify again here. Bob McKenzie on TSN said the Devils Wild, Flyers, Penguins and Red Wings (not Hurricanes) are on his "short list"

I personally dont think Parise is worth that kind of money. I would walk away before offering that kind of deal.

What will Malkin be worth in two years? I don't think he gives the hometown discount this time around.

Is it possible this push for Parise/Suter and possibly Weber next year has been in the works for a bit now? Richards/Carter?

I don't believe there was ever a handshake deal. All that was said is that the Flyers want Carle back, Carle wants to play here, and that Holmgren
thinks that he can get him for under market value. Well the market changed. And Pannacio says that the Flyers are desperate to re-sign Matt Carle. Take it for what it's worth.

- MJL

I don't believe there was a handshake either

(was being sarcastic), we cant cry about the guy staying for less than he can get someplace else, for sure

They also have the ability to trade players and create room. If I was confident in Crosby's health, I'd consider trading Malkin.

Carle should go out and explore to see what the market value for his services is. I'm just glad the Flyers wont be the team paying it (watch him resign now).

Risky
trading Malkin & Syd getting another head shot would put that team in a swoon, would just be easy to keep both & add to the depth, (instead of jacking up there cap adding parise)

I'm not sure why the Flyers are even going hard after this guy. Thats too much money imo to tie up into Parise.
